As a Payroll Specialist at Bitrise, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our payroll processes across multiple countries, with a primary focus on Hungary and other smaller, European locations. You will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll process, from data maintenance to benefit administration, while staying on top of evolving payroll laws and regulations. Your attention to detail and commitment to data security will be crucial in delivering timely and precise payroll services to our global employee base.


The position has a fixed term, it applies to a 2-year period, due to maternity cover. 


You are the ideal candidate if you

  • 3+ years of experience in HR/Payroll Administration, with proficiency in popular payroll and HRIS tools such as BambooHR.
  • Working knowledge and expertise in labour law, policies, and regulations across multiple countries are considered an asset.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate across global teams.
  • Strong project and time management skills, focusing on meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and critical thinking ability, capable of acting independently and with sound judgment.
  • Effective operation in an agile and fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a commitment to implementing process improvements.
  • Strong ethics, a commitment to data confidentiality, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • A passion for continuous learning and professional growth in payroll management, dedicated to implementing newfound knowledge to enhance process efficiency and quality.


Your Responsibilities


Payroll Ownership:

  • Assume complete ownership of the payroll process for multiple countries, primarily focusing on  Hungary and other EU countries, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all employee payments.
  • Conduct regular payroll reconciliations to verify accuracy and compliance, promptly addressing discrepancies in collaboration with Finance and HR teams.
  • Navigate the complexities of multi-country payroll processing, considering varying labour laws, taxation, and reporting requirements across Hungary and EU countries.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements, ensuring Bitirse's payroll processes align with all relevant legal and fiscal obligations.


Data Management:

  • Maintain and monitor employee data in the payroll system, prioritising data accuracy, confidentiality, and security.
  • Administer changes in employment terms, including overtime, bonuses, time off, and time sheets.


Employee Support:

  • Provide exceptional payroll support to our employees, keeping internal payroll processes and support materials up-to-date.
  • Communicate payroll-related matters effectively to the employee population.


External Partner Collaboration:

  • Engage and manage external payroll and benefits providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll and benefits administration.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Support data analysis and reporting across Payroll and People Systems and tools.
  • Generate and analyse payroll reports as the Finance and HR teams require, providing insights and recommendations for improvements when necessary.


Benefits Administration:

  • Provide support with all benefits related tasks in the target locations


Accounting/Finance Tasks:

  • Manage and track Finance changes in the payroll system.
  • Create monthly reconciliation files for Payroll-related accounts in coordination with the Finance team.
