This is a phone-first, outbound sales position. Your main responsibility will be to start conversations with prospective customers through cold calling, understand their challenges, explain the value of Fabrik and develop qualified sales opportunities.

You will take ownership of prospecting and follow-up, from identifying the right contact through to arranging discovery calls and arranging meetings. You will work with the founder and product specialists on technical questions, proposals and more complex commercial discussions.

This role suits someone who enjoys proactively winning business, is comfortable picking up the phone and can remain organised and positive when prospects are busy or not yet ready to buy. It is not an inbound customer service or purely administrative role.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

Prospecting and cold calling·

Research target organisations and identify relevant decision-makers in compliance, financial crime, operations and technology.

·         Build and maintain accurate prospect lists, prioritising businesses that match the agreed customer profile.

·         Make regular, targeted outbound calls to introduce CompliX and Fabrik and create meaningful business conversations.

·         Get through to relevant stakeholders, navigate gatekeepers professionally and establish a clear reason for the prospect to engage.

·         Use tailored follow-up emails and other agreed outreach channels to support your calling activity.

·         Refine your approach using call feedback, prospect responses and coaching.

Discovery and qualification

·         Ask clear questions to understand the prospect's business, current processes, challenges and priorities.

·         Establish whether there is a genuine fit for Fabrik, who is involved in buying decisions and what the likely next steps and timescales are.

·         Explain the platform's business value in straightforward language, using approved product messaging and avoiding unsupported technical claims.

·         Handle common objections around timing, existing suppliers, budget and competing priorities.

·         Book well-qualified discovery meetings, capturing enough background for the founder and product team to prepare effectively.

Opportunity development and sales support

·         Own timely follow-up before and after meetings, confirming attendance and keeping agreed actions moving.

·         Participate in discovery calls, building your ability to guide commercial conversations.

·         Work with the founder and product team to prepare relevant follow-up material, support proposals and help move opportunities towards a decision.

·         Maintain contact with prospects whose requirements are relevant but whose buying timelines are longer.

·         Escalate technical, pricing and contractual questions to the appropriate colleague rather than making unapproved commitments.

CRM management and reporting

·         Record contacts, call outcomes, qualification notes, objections and agreed next steps accurately in the CRM.

·         Keep the pipeline current, with clear opportunity stages, follow-up dates and realistic assessments of progress.

·         Report on calling activity, meaningful conversations, qualified meetings and sales opportunities.

·         Share recurring customer questions, competitor feedback and reasons for lost opportunities to improve our approach.

·         Follow company guidance on professional outreach, customer information and communication preferences.

Essential experience and skills

·         Previous outbound B2B sales, cold calling, telesales or business development experience, ideally at least one year.

·         Evidence of generating qualified meetings, new business opportunities or sales through proactive outreach.

·         Confident, professional spoken and written English and the ability to engage senior business stakeholders.

·         Strong listening and questioning skills, with the ability to identify a customer need rather than simply deliver a script.

·         Resilience and persistence, including confidence handling rejection and objections professionally.

·         Good organisation, reliable follow-up and attention to detail when recording customer information.

·         Confidence using a CRM, email, online meeting tools and basic spreadsheets.

·         Ability to work independently, take ownership of agreed goals and respond constructively to feedback.

·         Based in South Africa and able to work agreed calling hours aligned with the markets being targeted.

Useful, but not essential

·         Experience selling SaaS, business software, technology solutions.

·         Experience calling international markets or selling to financial services organisations.

·         Familiarity with banking, fintech, payments, compliance or financial crime operations.

·         Experience with consultative selling and sales cycles involving more than one decision-maker.

You do not need to be a financial crime specialist or technical product expert. We are looking for strong outbound sales fundamentals, curiosity and the ability to learn a specialist proposition.

Benefits

What the role offers

·         A base salary of approximately R16,000 gross per month.

·         Direct collaboration with the founder and product specialists on live sales opportunities.

·         The opportunity to develop consultative software sales skills and knowledge of financial crime technology.

·         A role where your prospecting, customer feedback and commercial contribution have a visible impact.
