About the Role

IN2 is looking to expand its roster of specialist associates by identifying experienced consultants with expertise in migration-related issues and strategic communications.

The opportunity involves providing technical backstopping to rapid-response communications campaigns aimed at helping people make safer, better-informed migration decisions.

Consultants will work alongside IN2's project and delivery teams from the initial campaign design stage, contributing specialist knowledge to campaign strategy, audience-specific messaging, creative development and ongoing adaptations informed by research and audience feedback.

We are seeking subject matter experts with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Political Instrumentalisation of Migration: Advising on politically charged narratives where migration is used to advance political objectives or exert pressure, including risks of escalating tensions or stigmatising migrants.
  • Migration Misinformation and Disinformation: Supporting the development of accurate messaging and credible responses to false or misleading claims about migration routes, risks and procedures.
  • Crisis-Related Migration and Asylum Misinformation: Providing technical guidance on timely, context-sensitive communications during conflicts, emergencies or sudden displacement, as conditions and information needs evolve.

Consultants may express interest in one or more of these areas. This is an assignment-based consultancy opportunity, with engagements agreed according to specific requirements rather than a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical advice and strategic guidance on migration-related issues throughout campaign planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of campaign strategies and communications approaches that respond to specific migration challenges and audience needs.
  • Support the development and review of audience-specific messages, creative briefs, scripts and campaign content.
  • Ensure communications materials are technically accurate, contextually appropriate and sensitive to relevant political, social and cultural dynamics.
  • Identify and assess emerging migration narratives, misinformation and disinformation risks that may influence campaign approaches.
  • Provide recommendations for adapting communications strategies and content based on research findings, monitoring insights and audience feedback.
  • Collaborate with IN2's project, research, creative and delivery teams to integrate specialist expertise into campaign activities.
  • Provide timely technical input and recommendations in response to emerging developments and rapidly changing circumstances.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the identified migration-related areas.
  • Relevant professional experience in migration, international development, humanitarian response, public policy, strategic communications or related fields.
  • Experience advising on or contributing to communications campaigns addressing complex or sensitive migration-related issues.
  • Strong understanding of misinformation and disinformation dynamics, particularly in migration and crisis-related contexts.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible and audience-appropriate communications.
  • Experience working in politically sensitive, fragile, conflict-affected or rapidly changing environments.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and provide practical, timely technical guidance.
  • Regional experience in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Western Balkans, Eastern Europe or Southern Africa would be advantageous.
  • A relevant academic qualification in migration studies, international relations, political science, communications, development studies or a related discipline would be advantageous.

IN2 is committed to hiring the best talent. As a company, it is proud of its diverse and inclusive workforce and so we welcome applications from all professional and cultural backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or religion.
