The Role

Function Health is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Medical Content Writer to join our team, contributing to our mission of empowering individuals to take control of their health through personalized insights and actionable guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop, write, and edit high-quality, engaging medical content for our platform, ensuring it is scientifically accurate, informative, and accessible to our diverse audience.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Clinical Content Lead and other team members to align on content strategy, topics, and goals. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss content ideas and receive feedback.

  • Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research, health trends, and advancements in both conventional and functional medicine. Incorporate this knowledge into your writing to ensure our content remains relevant and authoritative.

  • Editorial Standards: Maintain high editorial standards for all content, including adherence to Function Health's style guide, ensuring clarity, consistency, and quality across all materials.

  • Portfolio Development: Build and maintain a portfolio of medical writing that showcases your ability to communicate complex medical information clearly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in medicine (MD), naturopathy (ND), or a related field (PhD) is preferred, but other relevant healthcare qualifications may be considered.
  • Experience: Proven experience in medical writing, with a portfolio of published work. Familiarity with both conventional and functional and/or integrative and/or lifestyle medicine is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex medical concepts. Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.

  • What is Function's approach to remote work? Function is 100% remote across the United States, from Austin to New York to San Francisco. We meet up in person on occasion.
  • Who works at Function? We're small but growing! The team includes: Jonathan, Dr. Hyman, Pranitha, Mike, Amitha, Danielle and many more.
  • What's the interview process like?
    • First, you'll have a test writing assignment.
    • Then, you'll meet with our Co-Founder & CMO, Mark Hyman, and Clinical Content Lead, Amitha Kalaichandran. On this call, we're looking to understand your experience and interests.
    • Finally, you'll have a Co-Founders interview, where you'll meet the other co-founders that have built and run the company. After that we'll send an offer. If we don't give an offer, we'll be sure to provide feedback.
