LTL Freight Accountant

This is a remote position.

Alpha Staffing and Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented LTL Freight Accountant to support our logistics and transportation operations. This role is responsible for managing freight billing, auditing carrier invoices, and ensuring accurate financial processing for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of freight rating, accessorial charges, and accounting principles within a fast-paced logistics environment.

• Process and manage customer invoicing for LTL freight shipments, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.
  
• Audit carrier invoices against rate confirmations, tariffs, and contracts to validate charges.
  
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, including detention, layover, reclassification, and other accessorial charges.
  
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to freight operations.
  
• Track and follow up on outstanding invoices and ensure timely collections.
  
• Maintain accurate financial records and update data in TMS and accounting systems.
  
• Collaborate with operations, carrier sales, and customer service teams to ensure proper cost allocation and documentation.
  
• Assist with month-end closing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, customer contracts, and industry regulations.
  

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in logistics accounting, freight brokerage, or a related field.
  
• Strong understanding of LTL freight operations, rating, and billing processes.
  
• Proficiency in freight management systems (TMS) and accounting software.
  
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
  
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
