About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, business-minded Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to join our growing team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor, managing our global commercial contracting pipeline, navigating complex international data privacy landscapes, and supporting our expansion in the FinTech/SaaS ecosystem. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in SaaS licensing, deep experience with international cross-border contracts, and a firm grasp of global data privacy regulations. Direct experience within the payments, gateway, or FinTech space is highly advantageous.

What You’ll Do

  • Commercial & International Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of complex commercial agreements worldwide, including SaaS subscription agreements, enterprise master services agreements (MSAs), and partner and reseller contracts.

  • Data Privacy & Security: Serve as a legal subject matter expert on global data privacy laws (including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other regional frameworks). Draft and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and advise the product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design principles.

  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify legal risks across international jurisdictions and provide practical, business-oriented solutions to mitigate them while supporting company growth.

  • Payment Regulatory Support: Provide guidance on legal and regulatory issues related to payment orchestration, processing, and financial technology (e.g., PCI-DSS compliance implications and PSD2/PSD3).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Security, and Executive leadership to streamline deal cycles and align legal strategy with business objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education & Licensure: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution. Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar or relevant local legal authority.

  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong preference for a mix of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience at a fast-growing global SaaS or FinTech company.

  • SaaS & Tech Expertise: Proven track record of structuring and negotiating enterprise-level SaaS, cloud, and technology licensing agreements.

  • Privacy Credentials: Deep understanding of data privacy and security frameworks. The Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/US) designation is a strong plus.

  • International Exposure: Demonstrated experience navigating cross-border transactions and international jurisdictional complexities (North America, Europe, LATAM, and APAC).

  • Payment Industry Knowledge: Prior experience with payment gateways, payment orchestration platforms, acquirers, or complex FinTech ecosystems is preferred.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and drafting skills. Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice in a fast-paced environment.
