OpenInvest is a Fintech acquisition operating semi-autonomously within JPMorgan Chase. A fundamental part of our mission is to bring the innovative mindset of Silicon Valley and the patterns, frameworks, and processes typical in Big Tech into the bank. In doing so, we hope to make the most of the opportunities the firm has in front of it and solve some of the key challenges of the next century.
Opportunities in finance go beyond investment returns. The bank that understands its clients deeply and can personalize their entire world of wealth management is the bank that will deliver the best results for its clients and in aggregate, for society. These types of change require a team that can think big but also can translate visionary goals into a strategy of incremental changes to make concrete progress.
We're looking for an experienced UX Designer to help us design values-based personalization into the core of wealth-management tools. In this role, you'll partner closely with cross-functional teams from Product, User Research, ESG Research, and business teams to understand user needs, design user experiences and interfaces, and drive product improvements across JPMC applications for Wealth Advisors and clients. Expert use of UX design principles, user research, and interaction design will be instrumental in shaping the way users interact with our products.
To be a good fit for this role, you should have experience working on a highly collaborative team and understand the patterns of a feedback-oriented design environment. You must be self-motivated and outcome-driven. You should have solid intuition that enables you to work rapidly and independently, and an ability to work with ambiguity and make progress even when there are many unknowns.
This role will report to the Head of Product. What You'll Do:
    • UX Design: Lead the end-to-end UX design process, from concept ideation to final implementation, ensuring a user-centric approach throughout. Conduct internal design reviews to gather feedback and iterate on designs
    • Prototyping: Create interactive prototypes and wireframes to visualize and communicate design concepts effectively. Present and explain design decisions to stakeholders, incorporating their feedback to enhance the user experience
    • User Research: Conduct in-depth user research to understand user behaviors, needs, and pain points. Translate insights into actionable design recommendations. Effectively communicate research findings to cross-functional teams through reports, presentations, and workshops
    • Usability Testing: Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to gather user feedback and iterate on designs for continuous improvement. Communicate the results of usability tests, along with design recommendations, to project teams and stakeholders
    • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design alignment with product goals and technical feasibility. Act as a bridge between design and development teams, fostering effective communication and understanding
    • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate design concepts, rationale, and user insights to non-design stakeholders, such as executives, marketing teams, and customer support. Translate technical aspects of design into clear, understandable language for a diverse audience
    • Managing divergent opinions: Navigate and resolve disagreements or conflicting priorities by facilitating constructive discussions and presenting evidence-based arguments that support design decisions
    • Design Systems: Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems, ensuring consistent and scalable design across products
    • Accessibility: Ensure that all designs meet accessibility standards and guidelines to provide an inclusive user experience
    • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior UX designers, fostering a culture of growth and innovation. Encourage open communication and knowledge sharing within the design team
    • Stay Updated: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX design, and apply them to projects. Share relevant insights and findings with the team through presentations or written documentation
Who You Are:
    • 8+ years of experience as a UX Designer with a diverse portfolio showcasing expertise in interaction and design principles
    • Bachelor's or higher degree in human-computer interaction, user experience, interaction design, product design, visual design, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience leading a program of design work through full product development cycles; Proven track record of taking initiative, leading the end-to-end design process, and delivering against tight timelines
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and can direct self and others in planning, structuring, and executing design work
    • Effective communication skills, possessing strategies for building consensus with cross-functional stakeholders
    • Good at both giving and receiving constructive feedback on design work; able to discard ideas without attachment in pursuit of the best outcomes
    • Strong facilitation skills and experience employing a variety of methods and techniques to run design-led workshops
    • Knowledge of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Nice to Haves:
    • Experience working in a big tech or other environments known for high standards and rigorous design processes
