Job Description

Job Summary

We're looking for a skilled Instructional Designer to own the full development lifecycle of learning content that serves both internal employees and external clients of Momentive Software. In this role, you'll build engaging, scalable eLearning, video, and blended learning experiences for these audiences within Momentive Academy and Momentive University.

The core focus of the role is to develop technical training for software, translating complex product functionality into clear, engaging learning experiences that help users and employees get the most out of Momentive's platform. You'll independently apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to make sound design decisions with minimal oversight, managing concurrent projects from storyboard through production, QA, and deployment. You'll navigate feedback and revision cycles with confidence, and collaborate effectively with SMEs, project managers, and stakeholders at every level to deliver high-quality outcomes for a diverse range of learners.

This is a hands-on production role for someone who takes pride in polished, learner-centered content and who's excited to grow into strategic consulting and client-facing work over time.

  • Contributes to Momentive training standards by developing reusable templates, style guides, and production documentation, and driving adoption with stakeholders

  • Applies adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to make independent design decisions for assigned projects

  • Designs learning experiences that drive measurable learner engagement, making format and structure recommendations based on content and audience needs

  • Analyzes and incorporates feedback from stakeholders and learners to improve content quality

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2–4 years of experience in instructional design or learning content development

  • Experience designing for SaaS organizations and/or working in a SaaS environment

  • Ability to provide a portfolio demonstrating ownership of eLearning or blended learning projects from design through delivery

Technical Skills

  • Strong instructional design capabilities across multiple modalities (eLearning, video, ILT, job aids)

  • Proficient with video recording and editing tools; independently produces and edits learning video content

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and ability to apply them independently across varied content types

  • Familiar with Articulate Storyline

  • Proficient in LMS/LXP platforms — independently publishes, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains course content

  • Proficient with SCORM standards; independently manages packaging, testing, and version control

  • Demonstrated experience working with AI tools to enhance development efficiency and learning efficacy

  • Demonstrated experience developing software training

People Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including clear documentation of design decisions, revision rationale, and production notes

  • Ability to translate complex subject matter into accessible, engaging learning content

  • Builds effective working relationships with SMEs, project managers, and Learning Strategists to deliver high-quality outcomes

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams

  • Strong presentation skills — confidently presents design decisions and rationale to stakeholders and reviewers at any level within the organization

  • Patient and empathetic when supporting learners and stakeholders with varying levels of technical competence

Strategy & Consultation

  • Contributes instructional expertise to internal and external project discussions, advocating for design decisions that serve learner outcomes

  • Contributes content samples, prototypes, and design rationale to support proposal development

  • Independently researches and evaluates tools, formats, and approaches best suited to each project's learning objectives

  • Reviews proposals, estimates effort, and flags scope risks proactively

Growth Opportunity

  • Leading 1:1 client discovery, strategy development, and recommendations
