General Summary

The Field HR Generalist provides day-to-day HR support to store leaders and associates within an assigned territory, serving as a trusted point of contact for employee relations, workplace investigations, and HR policy guidance. This role partners closely with the Sr. HR Business Partner and field leadership to resolve employee concerns, administer leave and accommodation processes, support compensation analysis, and support progressive discipline in a manner that is timely, consistent, and compliant with applicable laws and company policy.

 

What We Do – Accountabilities

  • Serve as a point of contact and resource for store leaders and associates within an assigned territory on employee relations matters, providing clear guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook are communicated and consistently applied within the assigned territory.
  • Handle employee relations matters with empathy, discretion, and fairness; conduct thorough workplace investigations into associate complaints, policy violations, and conduct concerns, ensuring findings are well-documented and legally defensible.
  • Support store and territory leadership with progressive discipline, coaching, and performance management matters by gathering facts, advising managers on appropriate next steps, and preparing documentation to ensure fairness and consistent application of company policy.
  • Post and close job postings, move candidates through the recruiting system, and prepare and extend job offers to support store hiring needs.
  • Conduct compensation analysis, including pay range and minimum wage reviews, to support pay equity and business decisions within the territory.
  • Support new hire orientation, onboarding, and offboarding processes for stores within the assigned territory.

 

Essential Functions

  • Maintain thorough documentation of employee relations cases, investigations, communications, and outcomes.
  • Apply working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), FMLA, Pregnancy Discrimination laws, and other related employment regulations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for leave of absence and accommodation discussions, partnering with the Leave of Absence administrator, Sr. HR Business Partner, and store leadership to ensure seamless case management.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously across a multi-site retail environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Process, input, and maintain new hires, separations, and associate changes within Dayforce or other HRIS systems.
  • Schedule and conduct new hire orientation for stores within the assigned territory.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and folders, and complete I-9 verifications in accordance with company policy.
  • Serve as a resource for employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and employment matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including auditing system input of associate-related information and organizing files, to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and internal policies.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, termination paperwork, asset collection, and system deactivation.
  • Support store leadership on associate relations questions, new hire orientation, and general HR policy and benefits matters.
  • Support positive employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Maintain availability and flexibility to work across multiple time zones to support associates within the assigned territory.

 

                                                                                                    

Preferred Qualifications & Education

  • This role requires strong interpersonal skills and at least 2 years of experience in employee relations or human resources generalist functions.
  • Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Retail or multi-site HR generalist experience preferred
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and maintain documentation in an organized manner
  • Strong coaching, communication and influence skills
  • Ability to provide critical feedback to assist with the growth and development of associates and supervisors
  • Ability to prioritize challenging demands and manage time effectively
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Strong sense of urgency to resolve associate issues
  • Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems required; Dayforce experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
