Web Ascender is expanding its team and we'd love to have you join us. Our clients range from small businesses to high-profile national and international companies, so you'll have plenty of variety in your projects.

As a full stack web developer, you'll be working alongside our developers and designers to help create business-critical online systems for our various clients. You'll gain experience in a variety of industries while honing your craft and leveling-up your skills. Our developers contribute to back-end and front-end code and architecture, and have the freedom to innovate around tools and processes. You'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from early planning, wireframing, and architecture, through implementation, testing, and deployment.

We use a variety of technologies to build web applications, but our default technology stack is: Ruby on Rails with HAML, Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, Redis, Javascript (Stimulus and Turbo), and Bootstrap CSS. Our default server stack includes Amazon AWS and DigitalOcean.

Requirements

You:

  • Have a passion for technology and creating things for the web
  • Have 3+ years of professional experience with a major web development framework (Ruby on Rails, Laravel, Django, ASP.NET MVC)
  • Have 2+ years of professional experience with SQL database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite)
  • Have 1+ years of professional experience with JavaScript
  • Have a solid understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Can point to examples of work or projects you've contributed to or created
  • Love solving problems
  • Have a thirst for learning
  • Have a collaborative spirit and can work well in small teams or go solo when needed
  • Have excellent spoken and written English
  • Are a United States citizen
  • Live/work in the US Eastern or Central Time Zone
  • BONUS skills:
    • Experience with testing frameworks such as RSpec, MiniTest, Cucumber, Capybara, Jest, etc
    • Experience with Docker
