The Director of Materials Management Optimization will report to the VP of SIOP & Material Management at Collins and serve as a key leader responsible for driving alignment, standardization, optimize enterprise governance, and execution of materials planning and inventory management across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs). This role will lead transformation initiatives designed to improve supply reliability, reduce cost, strengthening the integration of demand, supply, capacity, and inventory planning across the enterprise. The director will partner closely with SIOP SBU leaders and cross-functional peers to identify opportunities, optimize end-to-end processes, and deliver measurable improvements in service levels, inventory performance, and working capital.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the enterprise-wide materials optimization strategy, focusing on standardizing planning processes, improving inventory accuracy, and increasing efficiency in material flow across all SBUs.

  • Work with SIOP SBU leads to identify gaps, assess performance, and deploy best practices that elevate the maturity of materials management.

  • Drive transformation initiatives to build a best-in-class SIOP organization, ensuring consistent adoption of standardized planning processes, advanced analytics, and disciplined execution across all SBUs.

  • Establish governance, policies, and frameworks that ensure consistent execution of materials planning and inventory management.

  • Partner with key functions—including Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and Engineering—to ensure alignment and seamless execution of materials strategies.

  • Oversee continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and streamline processes.

  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on performance, progress, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience  

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in materials management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

  • Proven expertise in MRP systems and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards)

  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is highly desirable

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or Master’s preferred

  • Understanding of MRP logic and best practices

  • Leadership and team management capabilities

  • Strategic thinking and operational execution

  • Experience in data analysis and forecasting tools

  • Ability to manage complexity in global supply chains

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
