We are seeking a strategic, data-driven finance leader to serve as our Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This role is a key business partner to ownership, executive leadership, and operational teams, providing financial visibility, forecasting accuracy, operational analytics, and decision support across the organization.
Position Summary
The Director of FP&A will lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, operational analytics, KPI development, and executive reporting across multiple service lines and locations. This individual will help drive organizational performance by transforming financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, profitability, growth, and operational excellence.
This position partners closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, revenue cycle teams, human resources, and accounting to ensure consistent reporting, financial discipline, and scalable processes throughout the organization.
Strategic Finance Leadership
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to ownership, executive leadership, and operational leaders.
- Lead financial planning and analysis efforts across multiple sites, programs, and service lines.
- Develop financial models and operational analyses to support new programs, acquisitions, expansions, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, labor efficiency, operational performance, and cash flow.
- Provide executive-level insights and recommendations based on financial and operational trends.
Budgeting, Forecasting & FP&A
- Lead the annual budgeting process across all entities, locations, and service lines.
- Develop rolling forecasts, scenario planning models, and variance analyses.
- Create scalable forecasting processes and financial planning tools.
- Monitor and report on key operational and financial performance indicators, including:
- Census
- Labor utilization
- Reimbursement performance
- Staffing ratios
- Profitability
- Drive accountability and consistency in forecasting and budget management across departments.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Establish standardized financial and operational reporting definitions across the organization.
- Develop executive dashboards, KPI scorecards, and recurring reporting packages for leadership.
- Improve data accuracy, reporting consistency, and financial visibility.
- Partner with operations, billing, HR, and clinical leadership to ensure reliable reporting and actionable insights.
- Analyze trends related to census, staffing, labor costs, reimbursement, and site performance.
Revenue Cycle & Operational Finance
- Partner with revenue cycle and billing teams to improve collections, reduce denials, and optimize reimbursement performance.
- Analyze payer reimbursement trends, contract performance, and service line profitability.
- Support strategic financial analysis related to payer negotiations and reimbursement opportunities.
- Provide operational leaders with financial insights that support sustainable growth and performance improvement.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide strategic direction and financial leadership to finance and accounting team members.
- Partner closely with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
- Build accountability, operational discipline, and scalable financial processes throughout the organization.
- Translate complex financial information into actionable business insights for operational and executive leaders.
Systems, Processes & Controls
- Lead finance-related process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and data accessibility.
- Develop scalable reporting structures and internal controls that support organizational growth.
- Support ERP optimization and reporting enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in FP&A, strategic finance, operational finance, healthcare finance, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience with:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Financial modeling
- KPI reporting
- Operational analytics
- Executive reporting
- Healthcare finance experience required.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and financial reporting platforms.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Behavioral health, residential treatment, autism services, substance use treatment, PRTF, RTF, PHP, or multi-site healthcare experience.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or rapid organizational growth.
- MBA strongly preferred.
- Healthcare analytics, FP&A leadership, and strategic finance experience strongly preferred.
- CPA welcomed but not required.
