Position Overview

Reporting to the SVP, Growth & Revenue, the Director, Campaign Operations will play a critical role in helping City Year bring an ambitious campaign to life, translating campaign goals into coordinated action across the organization.
This is an exciting moment to join City Year as we build the systems, rhythms, and shared momentum needed to rally people around a bold vision for growth and impact. The person in this role will own the campaign management system, creating the governance structures, operating rhythms, reporting tools, and accountability mechanisms that keep campaign leadership informed, stakeholders aligned, and teams focused on achieving campaign objectives with clarity and energy.

Success in this role requires exceptional organizational leadership, strong analytical capability, operational rigor, executive presence, and the ability to inspire action through influence, clarity, and structured accountability.

This is a remote position with a priority for Boston-based candidates, special consideration in the following City Year locations: New York City, Philadelphia, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco/Bay Area, Los Angeles.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 8–12 years of progressive experience in campaign management, fundraising operations, strategic operations, program management, revenue operations, or organizational effectiveness
• Experience supporting complex, multi-year fundraising campaigns or large-scale organizational initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to build credibility and manage accountability with senior executives, board members, campaign volunteers, donors, and cross-functional leaders
• Strong analytical, facilitation, executive communication, forecasting, and performance management skills
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, workstreams, risks, dependencies, and stakeholders across a matrixed organization
• Strong understanding of constituent relationship management systems, campaign reporting tools, dashboards, and data governance practices
• Authorized documentation to work in the United States of America

 

Responsibilities

The Director leads the campaign’s operating system, ensuring the campaign has clear governance, meeting cadences, decision-making structures, and follow-through across all major workstreams. This role manages campaign dashboards, milestones, action items, risks, dependencies, and accountability tools so leaders have visibility into progress and teams remain focused on the highest-priority work. The Director also partners with Development and campaign leadership to maintain campaign forecasts, pipeline visibility, stakeholder engagement plans, and leadership-ready reporting. This includes translating data into practical insights, coordinating key touchpoints with campaign leaders, volunteers, donors, ambassadors, and board members, and strengthening the workflows, templates, and processes that help the campaign move with urgency, confidence, and shared momentum.

Stakeholder Engagement and Operational Excellence

• Build engagement plans and calendars for campaign leaders, volunteers, donors, ambassadors, board members, and other key stakeholders.
• Coordinate communications, briefings, touchpoints, and leadership follow-up
• Design practical workflows, templates, tools, and processes that improve consistency, efficiency, and campaign execution

 

Campaign Management, Governance, and Accountability

• Lead the campaign’s operating rhythm, including governance, meeting cadences, decision-making, and follow-through
• Manage campaign dashboards, milestones, action items, risks, and dependencies to ensure clear ownership and accountability
• Monitor progress against goals, identify barriers, and escalate risks or resource needs with recommended next steps

 

Forecasting, Reporting, and Insights

• Maintain campaign forecasts, pipeline visibility, and progress tracking in partnership with Development and campaign leadership
• Optimize data (across platforms) for accurate, timely, and actionable insights.
• Translate data into recommendations, and leadership-ready reporting to support planning, prioritization, and decision-making

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a national education, youth development, nonprofit, social impact, or campaign environment
• Track record building and managing operating systems for complex initiatives with multiple leaders, teams, and stakeholders
• Experience developing executive dashboards, scorecards, campaign forecasts, pipeline reports, and milestone tracking tools
• Strong facilitation skills and ability to prepare executives, volunteers, and senior leaders for effective decision-making and follow-through
• Experience working in a matrixed organization across national and local teams
• Experience strengthening campaign operations, Program Management Office practices, revenue operations, or organizational effectiveness systems

• Campaign milestones are achieved on time and with clear ownership
• Campaign forecasts are accurate, actionable, and regularly used by leadership
• Leadership teams have confidence in campaign reporting, insights, and decision support
• Critical initiatives are completed on schedule and with cross-functional coordination
• Action items, risks, and dependencies are actively managed through clear follow-through
• Campaign operations become more efficient, visible, and aligned over time

 

Compensation

$80,000 - $108,000 Annually Commensurate with Experience and Location
