About the Opportunity


Reporting to the VP, Growth Operations, the Director, U.S. Business Development will lead Kambo's continued expansion into the United States by developing strategic partnerships, securing new business opportunities, and strengthening our position with utilities, governments, and partner organizations. This role combines strategic business development, executive relationship management, and market development to build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities and long-term client partnerships. Success requires a proactive, relationship-first approach that positions Kambo well before procurements are released and translates those relationships into lasting business growth.


Drive U.S. Growth


  • Develop and execute Kambo's U.S. business development strategy.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities with utilities, government agencies, community organizations, and strategic partners.
  • Own a portfolio of opportunities from early market engagement through contract award.
  • Meet revenue and pipeline growth targets while maintaining accurate forecasting and CRM discipline.


Build Strategic Relationships


  • Develop trusted executive-level relationships with utilities, public agencies, industry associations, and delivery partners.
  • Represent Kambo at conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities throughout the United States.
  • Build strategic partnerships that expand Kambo's market presence and competitiveness.
  • Stay current on industry trends across energy efficiency, electrification, climate, equity, and customer engagement. 


Win New Business


  • Lead or contribute to competitive RFPs, RFQs, and funding proposals in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Position Kambo proactively with prospective clients and partners before procurement opportunities are released.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to strengthen Kambo's visibility and market positioning within the U.S. 


Strengthen Internal Capability


  • Support the development of scalable business development processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Work closely with the VP, Growth Operations to maintain forecasting accuracy and pipeline visibility.
  • Collaborate across program, operations, finance, and delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are operationally feasible and aligned with client expectations. 


About You


You are a relationship builder and strategic business developer who enjoys opening new markets and creating long-term partnerships. You understand that sustainable growth comes from trust, credibility, and consistently delivering value. You are comfortable engaging senior leaders, navigating complex sales cycles, and developing opportunities that may take time to mature. You think beyond individual transactions, building portfolios of clients and partnerships that create lasting impact. Internally, you bring clarity around market opportunities, client needs, and competitive positioning. You enjoy collaborating across teams and raising the standard for professionalism, responsiveness, and customer experience. 


Qualifications & Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, account leadership, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated success achieving revenue growth and business development targets.
  • Experience building executive-level relationships with utilities, government agencies, or comparable enterprise clients.
  • Experience leading or contributing to successful competitive RFPs and proposal submissions.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-growing, mission-driven organization.
  • Experience working with U.S. electric or gas utilities.
  • Existing network within the North American utility or clean energy sector.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, electrification, affordability programs, climate initiatives, community engagement, housing, or social impact
  • Willingness to travel throughout the United States and Canada as required.


Kambo is headquartered in Vancouver, and preference will be given to applicants located in Pacific and Mountain time zones across the United States; however this role is open to candidates across the country.
