About The Role:

SpendHound is a SaaS spend management platform that helps finance, operations, and procurement teams understand and manage their software and cloud spend. Our product collects and organizes vendor, invoice, contract, receipt, and transaction data from different sources, including ERP and accounting systems, customer emails, and AI-generated datasets.

We are seeking a Data QA Associate to join our team in India to manage a large portion of the data cleaning and quality assurance processes for this product. As a Data QA Associate, you will be responsible for transforming raw financial and accounting data into accurate business expense insights. You will review transactions and accounting records, validate expense categories, identify bad cases, investigate the root causes of data issues, and help improve the rules and processes used to maintain data quality.

You will work with a top-notch engineering team and data team from the U.S. and China. You'll complete your work primarily using data in our proprietary software. This position offers the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the growth of our company. Exceptional employees may have the opportunity to be promoted and manage a team of other Data QA Associate.

• This is a fully remote role based in India. 
• Working hours: 8 am - 5 pm IST
• In general, we expect some overlap with Chinese or U.S. work hours. More details on work-hour expectations will be shared during the recruiting process.
• We expect hires to start in the position as soon as possible, and no later than June, 2025

As our Data QA associate, you will: 

• Review and validate accounting data exported from ERP systems, including vendor, invoice, bill, payment, and transaction records.
• Apply accounting knowledge to understand different bookkeeping patterns and determine how transactions should be reflected in expense data.
• Review and correct vendor and spend category mappings.
• Identify and resolve duplicated, incomplete, or inconsistent records.
• Investigate data quality issues and collaborate with data and engineering teams to improve data processing rules.
• Ensure that the final data is accurate and reliable for business expense analysis.
• Ensure compliance with company data security and confidentiality policies.

You Are Likely To Succeed If you have: 

• Bachelor's degree or above. Majors in Accounting, Finance, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field are preferred.
• 0–2 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience, including relevant internship experience. Or 0 - 2 years of experience as a data or quality assurance analyst in finance data.
• Experience with accounting processes such as transaction categorization, invoice processing, expense review, account reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger entries.
• Hands-on experience using at least one mainstream ERP, accounting, or expense management system, such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks Online (QBO), Ramp, Xero, or a similar system.
• Familiarity with accounting standards, the ability to distinguish the company’s accounting categories, and an understanding of company accounting records.
• Experience managing multiple processes in parallel.
• Basic data analysis skills and familiarity with Excel, SQL, or Python are a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with a remote team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams across time zones and cultures.
