MAIN PURPOSE
Lead and strengthen community engagement and health promotion approaches across the assigned operational portfolio by supporting the integration of people-centred and participatory methodologies into humanitarian programmes. The role ensures that patient and community perspectives inform operational decision-making, programme quality, safety, dignity and effectiveness.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Community Engagement and Health Promotion Advisor provides technical leadership and support to projects and missions in the design and implementation of community engagement and health promotion strategies. The position promotes population-based approaches, facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration across departments, enhances understanding of community needs and feedback which are used towards continuous improvement and adaptation of the response, and contributes to learning, knowledge management and capacity building. The role works closely with operational and medical teams and supports field implementation through remote and in-person engagement across MSF operational contexts
TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and support community engagement and health promotion strategies that strengthen people-centred approaches and community participation throughout programme design, implementation and adaptation.
Guide missions and projects in analysing patient and community needs and feedback, including the identification and consideration of vulnerable populations, to improve programme relevance and quality.
Support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of community engagement and health promotion initiatives to ensure evidence-based learning and continuous improvement.
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among operational, medical, humanitarian affairs, logistics and HR stakeholders to ensure community perspectives are integrated into operational decision-making.
Develop and strengthen knowledge management systems, qualitative analysis processes and capitalization initiatives to improve organizational learning and dissemination of best practices.
Provide technical support during assessments and operational reviews, contributing expertise in community engagement methodologies, participatory approaches, health promotion and health education.
Build organizational capacity by designing and delivering training, mentoring and technical support for community engagement personnel and multidisciplinary teams.
Represent MSF in relevant external networks, partnerships and technical forums to promote learning, collaboration and innovation in community engagement practices.
ROLE´S SPECIFIC ELEMENTS
Supports a geographically diverse portfolio based on operational priorities and organizational needs.
Works in close collaboration with People Centred Approach team and other technical advisors to ensure coherence of people-centred approaches.
Contributes to the development of contextualized community engagement and health promotion tools, guidance and materials.
Regular travel to field projects and missions to provide technical support and guidance.
Serves as a key focal point for integrating patient and community feedback into operational learning and programme adaptation
SELECTION CRITERIA
University degree in Social or Health Sciences or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of field experience in humanitarian settings, with significant responsibilities in community engagement and health promotion.
Experience in community engagement and participatory approaches in humanitarian contexts.
Experience supporting, mentoring and training multidisciplinary teams, including team management in the field.
Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
Previous experience with MSF or other international NGOs, particularly in conflict settings, will be considered a strong asset.
Previous experience as an HQ Advisor will be considered an asset.
Additional studies in public/community health, anthropology, community engagement, social research or humanitarian action will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of logframe/Theory of Change and qualitative data analysis tools (e.g. NVivo, MAXQDA or ATLAS.ti) will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of Arabic, Spanish and/or Portuguese will be considered an asset.
CONDITIONS
Homebased
For level HQ-4A positions and if the role is based in Spain, the salary will be at €45.577,76. If the role is finally located at another location, compensation will be subject to the final location.
