Primary Function/General Purpose of Position 
Leads the organization's International Strategy and Business Development function, establishing the strategic direction, governance, operating model, and long-term growth strategy for the organization's international portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and working closely with the Chief Development Officer and team, this role establishes the long-term vision, priorities, and strategic framework for international growth across Europe and the Asia Pacific region through market expansion, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and new business opportunities.  The position serves as the executive accountable for advancing the organization's international growth strategy while providing executive sponsorship and governance for complex international initiatives. The role partners with executive leadership to ensure international growth opportunities support the organization's mission, strategic priorities, financial objectives, and long-term sustainability.
 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Establishes and leads the International Strategy and Business Development function, defining strategic priorities, governance, operating principles, and long-term growth objectives in alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Leads the evaluation, development, and advancement of international growth opportunities through strategic partnerships, affiliations, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and market expansion initiatives in collaboration with enterprise leadership.
  • Develops the organizational capabilities, talent, governance, and operating model necessary to sustain the organization's international growth strategy.
  • Provides executive sponsorship and governance for major international strategic initiatives, ensuring successful execution, risk management, and alignment with enterprise priorities. 
  • Develops and maintains executive relationships with international healthcare organizations, government agencies, investors, consultants, financial advisors, academic institutions, and strategic partners to expand the organization's global presence and strategic opportunities. 
  • Provides strategic counsel and market intelligence to the Chief Strategy Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and Board regarding international healthcare trends, competitive positioning, geopolitical risks, emerging markets, and strategic investment opportunities. 
  • Leads the international strategy and business development function, establishing priorities, policies, performance expectations, and organizational capabilities while fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Represents the organization externally in executive negotiations, industry forums, strategic partnerships, and international engagements to advance the organization's reputation and long-term growth objectives.

Licensing/Certification

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, International Business, Finance, Economics, Health Policy, or a related field ( required)
  • Master’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, International Business, Finance, Health Policy, or a related field ( preferred)
  • Advanced professional education or executive leadership development relevant to strategy, business development, healthcare, international operations, or organizational leadership ( preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in strategy, business development, corporate development, consulting, healthcare administration, or a related executive function. (required)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of executive leadership experience developing and implementing enterprise or system-level strategic initiatives within a complex, matrixed organization. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, or market expansion initiatives.  (required)
  • Experience presenting strategic recommendations and investment proposals to executive leadership, governing boards, or equivalent governing bodies  (required)
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives requiring collaboration across multiple executive functions and stakeholder groups. (required)
  • Experience leading international strategy, global business development, foreign direct investment, or international healthcare initiatives.   (preferred)
  • Experience working with government agencies, international partners, or multinational organizations.  (preferred)
  • Experience supporting hospital development, healthcare infrastructure projects, or large-scale capital investments. (preferred)
