Job Description:

DELINEATE

Business Development Intern

15 hours per week  ·  Summer 2026  ·  Remote

About Delineate

Delineate is a brand and campaign tracking platform built for speed, AI-assisted analysis, and high data quality. We help consumer brands understand how their brand and their marketing are performing, and we compete with the established names in market research by being faster, more modern, and easier to work with. This is a hands-on role supporting our growth into the US mid-market.

The role in one line

You will build the research foundation for our US growth: a carefully researched and organized list of the companies we most want to work with, and an up-to-date read on what our competitors are doing.

Your anchor project: the US target account book

Your main project for the summer is to build our US mid-market target list, the foundation of how we will focus sales effort. Working from a defined profile of our ideal customer, you will:

  • Research US consumer brands in our target size range and build a structured profile of each.
  • Work out whether each company runs its insights through a data and analytics function or a marketing function, using public signals such as job postings, case studies, and LinkedIn.
  • Identify the right named contact, for example the Head of Insights or Head of Analytics.
  • Spot signals that a competitor is already in the account, and note them.
  • Tier the final list so the team knows where to focus first.

Everything you produce is reviewed before it is used, so it is a safe place to learn how good account research is done, and you finish the summer having built something the sales team uses directly.

Ongoing responsibilities

  • Run a standing competitor watch: track pricing changes, new features, conference appearances, new case studies, and notable hiring, and summarize them for the team.
  • Help keep our competitor reference notes current as you find new information.
  • Tidy and organize the resulting research so it stays usable.

What you will gain

  • Real experience of B2B account research and competitive intelligence in a growing software company.
  • A strong grasp of how a sales motion is built, from ideal-customer profile through to a prioritized target list.
  • A finished, owned project that you can speak to in any future interview.

What we are looking for

  • Methodical and thorough, the kind of person who enjoys getting a dataset right.
  • Comfortable in spreadsheets and confident finding information online.
  • Curious about how businesses are structured and how buying decisions get made.
  • Reliable and able to own a large piece of research over several weeks.
  • No sales experience required. We will teach you the method.

What this role does not involve

So expectations are clear from the start: this is a research role, not an outreach role. You will not be contacting prospects or sending messages on the company’s behalf, setting or discussing pricing, working with our confidential survey datasets, or changing records in our CRM without sign-off. Your work prepares the ground for the team to act on, and it is reviewed before it is used.
