The Business Development Manager is responsible for establishing new business, growing existing accounts, and implementing growth initiatives for the division. They will also manage sales territories, negotiate contracts, and lead strategic partnerships while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Job Summary
Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and provides the leadership to achieve the short-range and long-range business development objectives within the department.
• Establishing new business and growing existing business
• Plan and implement initiatives that generate growth for the division
• Establishing sales goals and forecasts and achieving those goals and forecasts consistently.
• Establish a marketing plan with direction and goals
• Assigning sales territories to Technical Account Managers/Sales Associates
• Contract negotiation and closure of sales agreements with business customers
• Initiate and develop profitable strategic alliances and partnerships with customers
• Analyzing product strengths and competitiveness in global markets
• Enhancing organizational awareness of global competitive pressures and pricing
• Managing organization presence at trade shows
• Travel through territories to call on existing and prospective customers to obtain an understanding of industry requirements
• Maintain high level contacts in the customer and manufacturing communities
• Managing relationships with key accounts and working to ensure customer satisfaction at all levels
• Expansion into new markets and capture of new customers through lead follow-ups, cold calls, and other sources.
• Handle incoming calls, including order status, problem solving, etc.
• Internal problem solving i.e. order scheduling, expediting, etc.
• Communication with Reps of Zeus
• Daily updates
• Quoting and costing of questionable pricing
• Attend management related meetings
• Prepare assigned reports both annual and monthly
• Forecasting both monthly and yearly
• Answer daily faxes via phone or fax
• Keep Management apprised of issues
• Build long-term relations with contacts at accounts
• Follow up on incoming leads including shows, magazine, etc.
• Work with production on experimental projects for R&D meeting
• Organize QC and Production situations for the Production meetings
• Check orders for accuracy and completion
• Arrange and establish itineraries for customer visits
• New growth projects, mail outs, marketing strategies, etc.
• Direct supervision of assigned personnel
• Direct communication with levels of production with regards to new projects and existing situation which may need direct involvement
• Shipping issues, cost, paperwork, importing, etc.
• Manage Internet activity related to the department
