We are looking for a professional and ambitious Risk Specialist to join our Risk Engineering team. The successful candidate will be adept at conducting risk assessments of commercial property risks to identify risks/exposures and sharing this expertise with their underwriting partners. How you will create impact: 

• Complete comprehensive risk assessments of clients’ facilities and operations; identify equipment breakdown exposures, including loss estimates, and provide actionable risk improvement recommendations.
• Conduct periodic inspections of clients’ pressure equipment in accordance with the Quebec Regulations.
• Establishing positive relationships with clients and maintaining strong relationships with internal staff and external service providers.
• Coaching team members and developing technical resources such as articles, bulletins etc. to support continuous learning.
• Ensuring assignments are completed in a cost-effective, timely and productive manner in accordance with specified service standards.

To join our team:  

• At least 5 years of experience in Equipment Breakdown Insurance (EBI), Risk Engineering, boiler and pressure vessel inspection, or a related technical field, with commercial insurance experience considered an asset.
• A degree or diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
• NBBI Commission and/or Certificate in pressure installation inspection (IISP), with an Ontario Certificate of Competency considered an asset (TSSA)
• Strong knowledge of boilers, pressure vessels and applicable regulatory requirements, risk engineering and loss prevention in EBI, standard equipment maintenance and repair practices
• Experience in power generation, mining, oil and gas or similar large industries considered an asset.
• CIP and/or CRM designation is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in French, along with a good knowledge of English, is essential for carrying out the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

What you need to know:

• You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
• The nature of this role requires to operate a company’s motor vehicle for business purposes. As such, your employment in this role is conditional upon you providing proof of a valid driver’s license and having a satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company in its sole discretion following a review of your driver’s abstract.

Expected salary range $104,717 - $154,700+​

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Sovereign in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
