About the position:

Americares is seeking an Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis/Management (FP&A/M), to join our Finance team. FP&A/M supports organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial and management reporting, and strategic financial decision-making. This role will serve as a portfolio-focused analyst supporting Americares global programs portfolio. The Analyst will work at a detailed level across departments, cost centers, projects, and funding sources to understand financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to budget holders and leadership.

A key focus of the position will be building and improving financial reporting. The Analyst will develop and maintain budget-to-actual (BvA) reports, recurring management reports, and ad-hoc analyses that help stakeholders understand financial performance and make informed decisions.

The Analyst will also play an important role in the annual budget, forecasting and reforecasting, month-end analysis, and other FP&A/M initiatives. This position reports to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis/Management.

In the first 90 days, the person in the role will:

-Learn and model Americares values.
-Actively participate in Americares onboarding sessions and tasks.
-Develop a strong understanding of Americares’ financial structure, portfolio, budgeting processes, systems, and reporting requirements.
-Build effective working relationships with FP&A/M colleagues, budget holders, and key cross-functional partners.
-Become proficient in the core systems and tools used for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
-Begin independently preparing assigned budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, forecasts, and other recurring financial deliverables.
-Demonstrate the ability to investigate financial results, identify key drivers and discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly.
-Establish reliable work routines and demonstrate the ability to manage priorities effectively in a collaborative, remote environment.

In the first 6 months, the person in the role will:

-Independently manage the FP&A/M responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of departments, programs, projects, or funding sources.
-Serve as a trusted financial partner to assigned budget holders, providing timely analysis, guidance, and follow-up.
-Produce accurate and timely monthly and quarterly reporting, forecasts, variance analyses, and other financial deliverables with limited supervision.
-Understand how activity within the assigned portfolio contributes to the broader organizational financial picture.
-Identify financial risks, trends, data issues, and emerging variances and proactively raise them for discussion.
-Contribute to improvements in reporting, tools, templates, and FP&A/M processes that increase efficiency and usefulness.

In the first year the role will:

-Demonstrate full ownership of the financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and reporting responsibilities for their assigned portfolio.
-Successfully support a full annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, including collaboration with budget holders and consolidation of financial information.
-Provide thoughtful analysis that moves beyond reporting what happened to explaining why it happened, what it means, and what may happen next.
-Anticipate financial risks and opportunities and provide actionable insights to FP&A/M leadership and business partners.
-Develop strong credibility with stakeholders as a responsive, knowledgeable, and solutions-oriented financial partner.
-Identify and implement meaningful improvements to reporting, analytics, processes, or tools that strengthen the FP&A/M function.
-Demonstrate the flexibility to shift between detailed analysis, broader organizational priorities, independent work, and team-based initiatives as business needs evolve.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for an assigned portfolio of departments, programs, projects, and/or funding sources.

-Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including budget-to-actual results, forecasts, trends, and key financial drivers.

-Partner with budget holders and cross-functional stakeholders to provide financial guidance, understand business needs, and support informed decision-making.

-Investigate variances, financial trends, data inconsistencies, and emerging risks and communicate findings and recommended actions.

-Support the annual organizational budget, periodic forecasting, and other organization-wide FP&A/M planning processes.

-Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.

-Continuously improve FP&A/M reporting, processes, controls, and tools to increase accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and usability.

-Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission.  

-Engage in and contribute to team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset.  

-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Competencies required for the role:

Financial Planning & Analysis — Strong demonstrated ability to perform budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual analysis, variance analysis, and financial modeling within a complex non-profit organization.

Advanced Financial & Data Analysis — Ability to work with large and complex financial datasets, investigate discrepancies, identify trends and financial drivers, and translate detailed analysis into meaningful conclusions.

Advanced Excel & Financial Reporting — Advanced proficiency in Excel and demonstrated experience developing accurate, scalable financial models, reporting tools, and management reporting.

Business Partnership: Ability to work effectively with non-financial global stakeholders, understand their operations and financial needs, and translate financial information into clear guidance.

Financial Systems & Data Fluency: Experience working with ERP, budgeting/planning, and/or business intelligence systems and the ability to learn new financial technologies quickly.

Portfolio Management: Ability to manage multiple departments, projects, funding sources, deadlines, and competing financial priorities simultaneously. 

Management Reporting: Ability to develop concise, accurate financial reporting that highlights key trends, variances, risks, and decision points for management.

Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies and improve financial processes, reporting, templates, and analytical tools.

Preferred qualifications for the role include:   
-Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English. 

-Experience in a humanitarian/development organization.
