About Agilent

Agilent's mission is to advance the quality of life by delivering trusted answers to the scientific community's most critical questions and challenges. This role is central to that mission: it puts Agilent's chromatography and mass spectrometry technology directly into the hands of the researchers, faculty, and laboratory teams shaping the next generation of scientific discovery across the Pacific Northwest.

This is a field-based, hunter sales role covering a defined physical geography of Eastern Washington, the Idaho panhandle, and Eastern Oregon, plus academic accounts throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho — including Tier 1 and Tier 2 universities such as the University of Washington, Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon.

As a generalist account manager, you will cover all markets Agilent serves in this territory — chem & energy, materials science, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical, life science research, clinical, environmental, forensics, and food.

What You'll Do

  • Grow Agilent's market share in chromatography, mass spectrometry, and related consumables and services across the territory.

  • Prospect proactively for new customers and new opportunities; create demand and drive deals from first contact through close.

  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with researchers, faculty, lab managers, and procurement teams.

  • Achieve all sales targets and territory initiatives.

  • Develop and execute a territory plan that expands share across academic and commercial accounts.

  • Partner with Product Specialist, Consumables and Supplies, and Service teams and all One Agilent colleagues in the territory.

  • Forecast accurately on a monthly, quarterly, and half-year basis.

  • Maintain disciplined Salesforce CRM updates, expense reporting, and business reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or another physical or life science discipline from an accredited university.

  • 1+ years of relevant experience — either scientific/laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC, MS) or field sales and customer-facing experience.

  • Basic understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows.

  • Demonstrated success in a hunter-oriented sales role: prospecting, pipeline development, and new business acquisition.

  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, funding sources, and procurement processes.

  • Experience negotiating contracts and working with purchasing and procurement organizations.

  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at every level, internally and externally.

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and consultative selling skills.

  • Strong self-management, organizational, territory planning, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-selling environment and independently in a performance-driven setting.

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately 75% of the time, often up to three weeks per month.

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of sales experience in analytical instrumentation, laboratory technology, life sciences, or a related scientific market.

  • Experience selling into academic, university, government, or research laboratory environments.

  • Technical knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or related analytical workflows.

  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing market share.
