Job Summary

Responsible for establishing and maintaining overall Client relationships on assigned book of business within the Life Sciences Practice Group. Grow existing book of business through new lines of coverage, rounding of accounts, and new business opportunities. Provide Risk Management expertise to Clients and provide direction and leadership to the account Service Team. Serves as the primary procedural and technical resource for complex life science industry needs

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage and retain existing book of business and pursue new opportunities for the book of business, including rounding of accounts across all lines of coverage. Spends approximately 35% of time outside with Clients and Underwriters.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor Service Plans for each Client, evaluating the need for adaptations to existing client programs off-renewal cycle as client business operations evolve.
  • Communicate with Producers and Senior Account Executives on significant issues/concerns impacting accounts.
  • Assist in establishing Loss Control and Claims activity for all Clients, retaining overall responsibility for the implementation of these services.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts for Clients in the placement of foreign clinical trials coverage, master controlled International Liability programs, and public company Directors and Officers coverage.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and on-the-job training to Account Managers, Account Analysts, and Administrative Assistants on the Team.
  • Maintain relationships with all levels of Client decision-makers to effectively consult and influence Clients on complex insurance issues, contract reviews, and adaptation requirements.
  • Prepare Client Renewal Strategy and ensure alignment with Client requests/requirements.
  • Manage the overall insurance renewal process, including preparation and presentation of Marketing Submissions, Renewal Proposals, Binders, and Stewardship Reports.
  • Remain current on industry changes, market conditions, carrier appetites, technical developments, product developments, legislation, coverages, and technology affecting the life sciences sector.
  • Participate on various Committees as assigned.
  • Manage accounts receivable within established guidelines.
  • Maintain data integrity and basic knowledge of Document Management System (WorkSmart) and Agency Management System (Sagitta) to manage Clients and Team.
  • Adhere to Company Policies and guidelines and attend required internal/external meetings.

Other Functions

  • Responsible for overseeing invoicing of current and new Clients within established guidelines. Manage accounts receivables within established guidelines.
  • Responsible for basic knowledge of Document Management System (WorkSmart) and Agency Management System (Sagitta) to manage Clients and Team.
  • Adheres to Company Policies and other guidelines.
  • Remains current on industry trends and information, new product development, legislation, coverages and technology.
  • Attend various internal and external meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of commercial, multi-line property and casualty brokerage or related business experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience servicing Life Science clients’ risk management programs.
  • Specialized experience with international coverages (e.g., foreign clinical trials, master controlled international liability programs) and public company Directors & Officers Liability placement preferred.
  • Independent, flexible, self-starter who can multi-task, delegate effectively, and operate with minimal supervision in an ever-changing, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Sagitta or other large agency management systems and WorkSmart document management system preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, financial, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Exceptional organization, leadership, and client service skills with a demonstrated ability to promote teamwork within a unit.
  • Ability to develop and manage key relationships at all levels within the organization along with outside Clients and Carriers.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without Company sponsorship

Compensation:

Salary for this position ranges from $125,000.00 - $200,000.00. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives. 

Qualifying positions will also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, such as participation in family medical and dental insurance programs, 401K plan, and PTO.

Working Conditions

Office environment with moderate noise level; able to work flexible hours and travel to other Conner Strong offices and Client work sites as needed.
