What you'll do:

As an Underwriter Support Specialist you'll be accountable for providing support to the Underwriting team, including but not limited to Underwriters and Underwriting Supervisor. You'll also be accountable for administrative support of the overall underwriting process, including the collection and handling of loan documents, working jointly with underwriters and account managers on underwriting conditions and other loan updates, verifying employment for prospective borrowers, and other responsibilities as needed from underwriting management.
  • Use an inventory checklist to ensure loan files are complete and accurate. Verify accuracy of data between documents and systems.
  • Complete Verbal Verifications of Employment.
  • Review loan documentation and collateral files.
  • Identify any document deficiencies, add applicable conditions, and request additional information and/or documentation from Clients as needed.

What you'll need:

  • 2+ years of related experience in Mortgage Industry, Residential Mortgage Loan underwriting or similar field.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Entry level knowledge of residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending; including sales, operations, capital markets and/or other residential mortgage products and services.
  • Entry level knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA Guidelines.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of Encompass.
  • Entry level speaking and writing communications skills.
