The Training Specialist designs, builds, and facilitates learning strategies to ensure underwriting staff possess the necessary skills and knowledge. They also conduct instructor-led training, develop course materials, and measure trainee performance through audits and feedback.
Position Summary:
The primary job function is to actively assist team members with understanding and demonstrating skills needed to successfully perform their underwriting job duties. This is achieved by using independent judgment and discretion, designing, building, and facilitating an engaging learning and development strategy and program that ensures both new and existing employees in our Underwriting division are trained in a consistent, effective manner and have the skills and knowledge to provide the highest level of insurance expertise to Mercury’s customers.
The UW Training Specialist plays a key role in Mercury’s growth and long-term success by shaping the Underwriting training experience. The incumbent creates compelling, up-to-date, and state-of-the-art courses and training materials. The UW Training Specialist conducts live instructor-led courses for new and existing employees in Underwriting and evaluates progress.

$65,072 to $79,533 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
In CA: Typical hiring range is $81,341- to $99,416
The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.
Essential Job Functions:
Education:
•Worker characteristics are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.).
Experience:
•At least 4 years of underwriting experience or 2 years as a Senior Underwriter, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is desired.
