AI Summary

The Territory Manager will drive growth by acquiring new commercial customers and maintaining relationships with existing hospitality and accommodation venues. They are responsible for executing journey plans, reporting on market trends, and ensuring compliance across the Upper South Island territory.

Sky is how New Zealand watches sport, and every pub, bar, club, motel and hotel that shows it is a commercial customer. We’re looking for a field-based Territory Manager to take full ownership of the Upper South Island and turn it into a growth engine.

This is a B2B new-business role first. You’ll spend your time out in the market finding venues that aren’t yet licensed or are under-served, walking in the door, and closing. You’ll sell Sky’s commercial packages to hospitality venues, accommodation providers and other commercial premises, including:

  • Sky Sport and entertainment licensing for pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants
  • In-room and guest entertainment solutions for hotels, motels and holiday parks
  • Add-ons and new products that lift revenue per venue

Because of the territory/patch that this role will look after, it would suit someone based in Christchurch/Canterbury region with a NZ driver full licence.
  • Maintain effective and accurate journey plans and complete daily reporting in line with company guidelines.
  • Identify new customers, market trends and commercial opportunities that grow revenue and Sky’s customer base across the Upper South Island.
  • Deliver proactive account maintenance programmes for existing commercial customers, supporting retention, satisfaction and sustainable year-on-year growth.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with prospective and existing customers, installation companies, industry associations and third-party sales teams.
  • Understand customers’ business needs, present relevant Sky solutions and confidently negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Attend and represent Sky at hospitality, industry, trade and conference events, strengthening our presence and identifying new leads.
  • Stay current with relevant training, products, market developments and ways of working.
  • Help ensure compliance across commercial venues in the territory, including identifying and addressing unauthorised use of Sky services.
  • Demonstrate Sky’s leadership mindset, beliefs and values while contributing to a safe, inclusive and collaborative culture.
You’re a commercially focused sales or account management professional who enjoys being out in the market, building trusted relationships and turning customer needs into practical solutions. You’re organised, results-oriented and comfortable working independently across a large territory while staying closely connected with colleagues and partners.

What you can bring to the role:
  • At least three years’ successful sales or account management experience, ideally in a business-to-business environment.
  • A proven ability to build and sustain long-term customer relationships and grow a portfolio against budgets and targets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and public-speaking skills, with confidence negotiating contracts and influencing customers and partners.
  • Strong planning, organisation and reporting skills, with the self-management needed for a field-based territory role.
  • A positive, solution-oriented approach, personal accountability and the resilience to work through change and uncertainty.
  • A collaborative style and natural ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • An openness to learning, curiosity about customers and market trends, and enthusiasm for Sky and where we’re going.
  • Experience in hospitality or accommodation, or a relevant marketing or business qualification, would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Free Sky, Sky Sport Now, and Neon
  • Company car, fuel card and mobile phone
  • Tickets to live events to enjoy with your customers
  • A flexible, supportive culture where your ideas matter
  • Great career development with real pathways to grow
  • Discounted Southern Cross health insurance
  • Discounted YMCA gym membership
