Role Overview

As the Technical Director you will be responsible for the technical planning, development and execution of Evo's live broadcasts, select on-site experiences, studio productions and associated content creation. Over the course of your work you will collaborate with multiple teams at Evo alongside our globally located production partners to ensure that Evo productions are executed at a level that meets or exceeds the expectations of fighting game fans worldwide.


This role sits within the Evo Production team and will be working closely with all of our video production leaders to ensure effective feedback loops.


The ideal candidate has experience leading a team of engineers, designing various broadcast technical infrastructures, overseeing live streams, and working on international productions .


Reporting Structure

You will report to Evo’s Head of Production.


Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Production Management: Provide guidance, oversight, and technical expertise for Evo’s global production teams, detailing and communicating technical and creative requirements to execute productions at a level that meets Evo’s expectations.
  • Tech Bible Maintenance: Maintain the tech bible for Evo Productions, detailing best practices for Evo Broadcasts inclusive of video, audio, game capture, graphics, lighting, multi-stream feeds, stream distribution, ISO records, and game hardware; both for broadcast and in venue.
  • External Production Oversight: Review, analyze, and provide feedback on all production elements from external broadcast partners, ensuring that the planning for technical needs before and during Evo broadcasts meet our high expectations.
  • RFP Writing: Assist in writing RFPs with a focus on technical expectations for potential broadcast partners globally.
  • Evo Team Collaboration: As part of the Evo team, you will collaborate and communicate across Evo Production teams to ensure they have the technical solutions available for their productions.
  • Technical Production Design: Design the technical infrastructures needed to execute both live event and non-event productions.
  • Managing the Technical Team: Hire and manage the engineers and personnel necessary to support all of Evo’s video productions. Negotiate contracts and fees of both freelancers and full-time employees that will be your direct reports.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience leading a team of engineers in a live broadcast environment.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technical infrastructures and solutions for live broadcasts.
  • Experience working in a live studio environment.
  • The ability to work weekends.

  • Existing relationships with tournament organizers, community leaders, creators, publishers, on-camera talent and other key figures within the fighting game landscape.


Compensation

The salary for this role is $120,000.00 to $150,000.00 based on experience.
