OVERVIEW:
The SEM Strategist is accountable for strategy, execution, and account stewardship across the full SEM ecosystem, Google and Microsoft Advertising included where relevant to the client's channel mix. The role translates client objectives related to revenue, profitability, acquisition, and growth into integrated channel strategies, media plans, and structured testing roadmaps. This is a high-impact individual contributor role requiring a highly proactive, organized, and resilient professional who demonstrates sound judgment, learns quickly, and operates effectively in a high-growth environment where priorities, processes, and technology evolve rapidly.

- Relevant context (preferred). Experience in SEM, performance media, ecommerce, or digital marketing; experience with Google Ads, analytics platforms, or advertising technology is a plus.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Strategy and planning. Translate client objectives (revenue, profitability, acquisition, growth) into channel strategies, media plans, budget recommendations, and structured testing roadmaps; validate assumptions and update plans as performance data emerges.
- Campaign development and execution. Able to follow a playbook, develop and manage campaigns across the complete SEM portfolio (Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Display, Demand Gen, Video/YouTube, App campaigns) and Microsoft Advertising where in scope; maintain/develop expert-level platform knowledge.
- Account ownership and commitment. Maintain clear ownership of assigned accounts, consistently meeting commitments and proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and required actions; ensure accurate and timely records in Salesforce, Planner, and internal workflows.
- Performance monitoring and optimization. Monitor budget pacing, media investment, revenue, ROAS, CPA/CAC, conversion rate, margin, and agreed client KPIs; investigate material changes and implement appropriate corrective actions; evaluate queries, audiences, products, brands, categories, and creative performance to identify opportunities for efficient growth.
- Testing and validation. Design and evaluate structured tests across campaign types, account architecture, bidding, audiences, creative assets, promotions, and landing pages; document hypotheses, findings, and recommendations.
- Feed and product quality. Support Google Merchant Center and product-feed health, including disapprovals, attribute gaps, catalog segmentation, and opportunities to improve product listings; conduct troubleshooting before escalation.
- Analytics and insights. Prepare accurate reports, account health assessments, media plans, strategy presentations, and QBR materials that translate complex data into concise, actionable recommendations; apply AI-enabled tools to improve analysis quality while exercising sound judgment.
- Cross-functional collaboration. Collaborate closely with CSMs and clients on results, risks, strategic trade-offs, and growth opportunities; work with Quartile technical and product teams on integration, tracking, and platform issues.
CHANNEL EXPERTISE AND TOOLS :
- Google Ads ecosystem: Working knowledge of Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Display, Demand Gen, Video/YouTube, and App campaigns.
- Microsoft Advertising: Familiarity with platform fundamentals; ability to learn the platform quickly.
- Analytics and data: Working knowledge of GA4 and ecommerce analytics; proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for analysis and reporting.
- AI and emerging tools: Practical familiarity with AI-enabled tools and strong interest in emerging capabilities, automation, and process improvement.
- Quartile platform: Ability and willingness to develop platform expertise are essential.
OPERATING MODEL :
- Account assignments and prioritization. Strategists manage assigned accounts and prioritize daily optimization work based on client ICP Ring & Account Health Score.
- Escalation and decision rights. Strategic trade-offs (e.g., budget reallocation, major bid strategy shifts) are discussed with the CSM and Account Leadership before implementation. Technical issues with tracking, feeds, or integrations are escalated to the Technical Implementation team or Data Intelligence with clear evidence and next-step assessment.
- Cross-functional coordination. Strategists work closely with CSMs on client communication, with Technical Implementation on tracking and feed issues, and with Product/Engineering teams on platform capabilities and integrations. Strategists participate in QBRs and stablished client check-ins.
- Testing and learning. Structured tests are designed in collaboration with CSMs, with clear hypotheses, timelines, and success criteria. Results are documented and used to inform future strategy and inform the broader Channel Operations community.
STRATEGIC VALUE :
This role directly drives Channel Operations' ability to deliver consistent, data-driven client results across the Google and Microsoft advertising ecosystems. SEM Strategists expand Quartile's execution capacity, reduce client dependency on shared resources, and create space for Account Leadership to focus on strategy, new business, and cross-channel optimization. By combining channel expertise with Quartile platform knowledge, this role strengthens client relationships, improves retention, and supports expansion into higher-value service offerings.
