SRE – OPENSTACK / PRIVATE CLOUD OPERATIONS

Role Overview

1. Looking for an SRE with strong experience in OpenStack and private cloud environments

2. Role focuses on production support, troubleshooting, and platform reliability

3. Requires hands-on expertise in Linux, networking, and storage

4. Involves close collaboration with engineering teams and customer interaction

Key Responsibilities

1. Troubleshoot complex issues in OpenStack and Linux environments

2. Manage and support OpenStack services including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone

3. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive long-term fixes

4. Participate in incident management and on-call rotations

5. Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability

6. Collaborate with engineering teams on fixes and improvements

7. Communicate effectively with customers via calls and written channels

8. Perform system optimization and performance tuning

Must-Have Skills

Linux, Networking & Storage Fundamentals

1. Strong understanding of Linux internals and system performance

2. Experience with kernel tuning and troubleshooting

3. Hands-on experience with filesystems and disk management

4. Knowledge of partitions and system-level troubleshooting

5. Experience with LVM and SCSI multipath

6. Basic understanding of Ceph

7. Ability to troubleshoot IO and performance issues

8. Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and network bonding

9. Understanding of basic routing concepts

OpenStack Operations & Troubleshooting

1. Hands-on experience with OpenStack services such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone

2. Experience managing production environments

3. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills

4. Ability to handle customer-facing technical issues

5. Experience performing root cause analysis

Good to Have Skills

1. Basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts

2. Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana

3. Knowledge of metrics, logging, and alerting systems

4. Basic scripting skills in Python or Go

5. Exposure to automation and observability practices

1. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

2. Ability to work in high-pressure production environments
