A Local Authority is in search of a seasoned Solicitor to join its Adult Social Care Legal Team on a temporary basis. Key Responsibilities
Court of Protection
- Oversee a caseload of Court of Protection cases from start to finish.
- Offer legal counsel on welfare and property and affairs issues.
- Draft applications, witness statements, pleadings, and related documents.
- Prepare court bundles and manage all aspects of case preparation.
- Coordinate with Counsel, the Court, Social Workers, and other relevant parties.
- Represent the Local Authority at hearings when necessary.
Adult Social Care Advice
- Provide legal guidance to Adult Social Care teams.
- Advise on statutory duties and responsibilities under applicable laws.
- Support safeguarding and complex care cases.
- Deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice to client departments.
- Assist with policy interpretation and legal risk management.
Case Management
- Independently manage a diverse and complex caseload.
- Ensure timely progression of cases within required deadlines.
- Maintain precise case records and documentation.
- Conduct legal research and provide written advice.
- Perform administrative tasks and manage documents related to casework.

Requirements
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX eligible to practice in England and Wales.
- Extensive experience in Adult Social Care Law.
- Proven track record in handling Court of Protection cases.
- Capability to manage a full caseload independently.
- Experience in providing legal advice to Local Authority client departments.
- Proficiency in preparing court documents, applications, and bundles.
- Strong drafting, advocacy, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Experience in performing administrative and case management duties as needed.
