Summary

The Senior Administrator and Developer works within the Data Platforms Team to modernize decision-making for a large-scale federal agency while providing support for current day applications. This role bridges the gap between data engineering and mission strategy by providing day-to-day Business Intelligence (BI) operations and maintenance support, Data Services workflows and ETL pipelines and designing and integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) based enhancements. This role spans data development (ETL, SQL, data loading), business intelligence (SAP Business Objects, report conversion), and system operations/administration (platform maintenance, restarting services, job promotions). The ideal candidate must be able to define data platform architecture, design and modernize legacy BI systems, and analyze upstream, downstream and data warehouse structures.

What You'll Be Doing:

Cross-Functional Platform Operations & Maintenance Supports

• Platform Administration Support: Provide secondary administration backup for SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Data Services to maintain platform availability, manage user permissions, and support system sustainment.
• ETL & Data Load Troubleshooting: Deliver operational support to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve data load failures and reporting anomalies within enterprise pipelines and data warehouses.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Perform real-time troubleshooting and analysis to resolve incidents. Perform system monitoring and health checks including auditing and event log review.
• Light Coding Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, patching, and minor optimizations on existing Python automation scripts, ETL scripts, and analytical workflows.
• Enterprise Reporting: Support interactive dashboards and dossiers using Power BI, Tableau, and SAP Business Objects.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical and process documentation, and SOPs.

Data Engineering & Integration

• ETL Pipelines: Extract, transform, clean, and load complex datasets from disparate relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL) and enterprise repositories.
• Readiness & Quality QA: Conduct data readiness and quality assessments—covering lineage, completeness, and governance—while diagnosing and fixing data anomalies.
• Pilot & Scale AI MVPs: Lead rapid AI model prototyping, technical demonstrations, and MVP pilots, transitioning successful solutions into scalable production environments.
• Process Automation: Integrate AI/ML capabilities into existing workflow automation and data platforms to reduce manual agency efforts.
• Stakeholder Briefing: Collaborate with business owners and IT leaders to translate mission requirements into technical specifications and deliver clear data briefings.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related fields) with 10+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Technical Stack:
  • Data & BI Tools: SQL, SAP Business Objects, SAP Data Services, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Languages & Frameworks: Java, Python, SQL scripts, and object-oriented programming scripting
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Salary Range

The proposed salary range for this role is $160,000 to $170,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Karsun considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
