About the Role:

The Senior Manager, People Operations is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the People function while ensuring a high-quality employee experience, strong compliance practices, and efficient execution of people programs and processes.

This role serves as a key operational leader within the People team and partners closely with the Head of People Operations to implement People strategies, drive operational excellence, and build scalable processes that support a growing organization. The Senior Manager, People Operations provides deep expertise in benefits administration, leave management, HR compliance, HRIS administration, and employee lifecycle operations while maintaining a hands-on approach to execution.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and is comfortable balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day operational responsibilities. This individual must be agile, resourceful, detail-oriented, and willing to roll up their sleeves to get work done.

What You’ll Do:

People Operations Leadership

  • Lead and manage daily People Operations activities and employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, job changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
  • Ensure operational excellence across People programs, policies, and services.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve People processes, workflows, service standards, and operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automate processes, and enhance the employee experience.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex operational and employee-related matters.
  • Partner with Payroll, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to ensure seamless execution of People processes.
  • Monitor service delivery, identify trends, and recommend operational improvements.
  • Support the development and execution of People Operations goals, priorities, and projects.

 Benefits Administration

  • Lead administration of all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefit offerings.
  • Manage relationships with benefit brokers and vendors.
  • Oversee benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, and employee communications.
  • Lead annual open enrollment planning, communication, and execution.
  • Resolve complex employee benefit issues and provide guidance to leaders and team members.
  • Monitor benefit program effectiveness and support evaluation of future enhancements.
  • Ensure accurate administration and compliance of all benefit plans and programs.

 Leave Administration & Accommodations

  • Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert for leave administration and accommodations.
  • Administer and oversee FMLA, ADA accommodations, state-paid leave programs, workers' compensation, military leave, and personal leaves of absence.
  • Guide employees and managers through leave and accommodation processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication throughout the leave lifecycle.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local legislative changes impacting leave administration and accommodations.
  • Maintain compliant leave practices across all applicable jurisdictions.

 Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
  • Maintain and update People policies, procedures, forms, and required notices.
  • Conduct audits of People data, records, and processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Advise leaders on employment-related compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Support employee relations matters, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and policy interpretation as needed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on risk mitigation through consistent and compliant People practices.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure People processes align with organizational policies and requirements.

 HR Systems, Reporting & Data Integrity

  • Serve as a primary administrator and subject matter expert for UKG Pro and related People systems.
  • Ensure employee data integrity through regular audits, reporting, and process controls.
  • Manage HR workflows, business processes, system configurations, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and reports.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve data quality and reporting capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve efficiency and team member experience.
  • Maintain documentation and governance related to HR systems and processes.

 Employee Relations & Manager Support

  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, policy interpretation, performance management, and workplace concerns.
  • Support investigations and documentation related to employee issues.
  • Promote consistent application of company policies and practices.
  • Partner with leaders to resolve workplace concerns in a practical, compliant, and business-focused manner.
  • Support manager capability by providing guidance, resources, and best practices.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong focus on People Operations and 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Extensive experience administering employee benefits programs.
  • Extensive experience managing leaves of absence and ADA accommodations.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience operating successfully in a fast-paced, high-growth, and evolving organization.
  • Experience supporting startup environments or organizations undergoing significant growth and change.
  • Demonstrated success creating, improving, and scaling People Operations processes.
  • Advanced experience administering and optimizing UKG Pro, including workflows, reporting, business processes, and employee data management.
  • Experience managing employee relations matters and collaborating with leaders on workforce issues.
  • Professional services experience preferred.

Estimated Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000.

This salary range is a good faith estimate based on the responsibilities of the role and typical market data across multiple U.S. geographies. Actual pay will depend on the candidate’s location, depth of experience, specialized skills, and overall qualifications.
