The Senior Director of Operations Finance will serve as a strategic partner to operations and fleet leadership to drive profitability and financial performance across the rental network. This role involves leading budgeting, forecasting, fleet financial management, and the development of executive-level reporting to inform critical business decisions.

Job Description

Turn the numbers behind every rental into the decisions that drive the fleet forward.

This is a strategic finance seat at the leadership table, not a support role. Fox Rent A Car needs a Senior Director of Operations Finance who can stand shoulder to shoulder with Operations, Fleet, and Revenue Management and turn hard numbers into decisions that move a nationwide rental network. You will own the financial story behind fleet economics, pricing, and location profitability, and you will be trusted to challenge assumptions at the executive level.

Your Primary Focus Is To:

Financial Leadership and Business Partnership

  • Serve as the senior finance business partner to Operations and regional/location leadership.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with executive and operational leaders.
  • Translate operational strategies and initiatives into financial impacts, including revenue, EBITDA, cash flow, and return on invested capital.
  • Provide financial leadership for new locations, market expansions, acquisitions, and major operational initiatives.
  • Establish financial accountability and performance expectations across the operating organization.
  • Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.

Rental Operations Finance

  • Own financial analysis and performance management for the company's rental operations.
  • Analyze profitability by location, market, vehicle class, customer segment, channel, and rental product.
  • Develop operating metrics and dashboards that provide management with timely visibility into performance.
  • Analyze revenue per rental day, average daily rate, utilization, rental days, fleet availability, ancillary revenue, and contribution margin.
  • Identify operational trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Establish benchmarks and best practices across the rental network.

Fleet Financial Management

  • Partner with Fleet leadership to optimize fleet size, mix, utilization, acquisition, and disposal decisions.
  • Analyze vehicle-level and fleet-level economics throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
  • Develop financial models supporting vehicle acquisition and replacement decisions.
  • Evaluate depreciation, maintenance, repair, damage, transportation, fuel, and disposal economics.
  • Monitor fleet aging and its impact on revenue, operating costs, customer experience, and residual values.
  • Partner with Fleet and Remarketing teams to optimize vehicle disposition strategies and maximize proceeds.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of OEM programs, vehicle incentives, purchase agreements, and financing arrangements.

Revenue and Pricing

  • Partner with Revenue Management to evaluate pricing strategies and revenue optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze rate performance, demand, seasonality, vehicle availability, length of rental, and market conditions.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of promotions, discounts, loyalty programs, corporate accounts, and distribution channels.
  • Develop profitability analysis that balances revenue growth with fleet utilization and operating costs.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Planning

  • Lead the annual operating budget process for the operations organization.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly forecasts for revenue, expenses, EBITDA, fleet investment, and cash flow.
  • Establish forecasting methodologies and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Analyze actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Identify key drivers of variances and work with operating leaders to develop corrective actions.
  • Lead long-range financial planning and scenario analysis.

Operational Expense Management

  • Drive disciplined management of operating expenses across the rental network.
  • Analyze labor productivity, staffing levels, overtime, vehicle transportation, maintenance, fuel, facilities, insurance, and other operating costs.
  • Develop productivity metrics and cost-per-unit benchmarks.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising customer service or operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and execute cost improvement initiatives.

Performance Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop executive-level reporting packages that clearly communicate operational and financial performance.
  • Establish standardized KPIs across locations and regions.
  • Improve the use of financial and operational data in decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical tools that provide real-time or near-real-time visibility into performance.
  • Leverage business intelligence, automation, and data analytics to improve financial reporting and forecasting.

Capital and Investment Analysis

  • Evaluate capital requirements for fleet, facilities, technology, and other operational investments.
  • Prepare business cases and ROI analyses for major investments.
  • Monitor actual returns against approved business cases.
  • Partner with Treasury and Corporate Finance on fleet financing and capital requirements.
  • Assess the impact of fleet investment decisions on liquidity, leverage, and cash flow.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Operations Finance organization.
  • Establish clear goals, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Develop finance talent capable of partnering effectively with field and executive leadership.
  • Promote a culture of analytical rigor, operational accountability, continuous improvement, and business partnership.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and other finance functions.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant experience supporting operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing finance teams and/or operating finance functions.
  • Experience in the rental car, automotive, fleet, transportation, mobility, travel, hospitality, or similarly operationally intensive industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, operational analysis, and performance management.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other advanced professional designation preferred.

Skills & Strengths:

  • Strong understanding of P&L management and operational drivers.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and operational leaders.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience with ERP, FP&A, business intelligence, and data analytics platforms.
  • Experience managing finance for a multi-location or geographically dispersed operation.
  • Experience with fleet economics, vehicle remarketing, or asset-intensive businesses.
  • Experience with revenue management and dynamic pricing.

We Offer:

  • Medical, Vision, Dental, 401k, Employee Discounts, Referral bonus
  • Company-paid Life Insurance
  • Company-paid AD&D Insurance
  • Flexible spending account
  • Parental leave
  • Employee assistance program
