Senior Director, Consumer Pricing & Non-Reimbursed Channels, Obesity and Related Conditions (OaR)  

Amgen has an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to make a significant impact on the Obesity and Related Conditions launch of MariTide. As a member of the Obesity Value & Access leadership team, the Sr Director, Consumer Pricing & Non-Reimbursed Channels, Obesity and Related Conditions will be integral to the launch's consumer access, net sales and long-term value performance. The Sr Director will lead U.S. consumer pricing and non-reimbursed channel strategy and performance activities for MariTide, and the broader OaR strategy for future indications and assets. 

The leader will translate MariTide's value proposition and consumer and market insights into clear, consumer-centered cash-price and channel strategies; establish the governance and operating model required to make high-quality pricing decisions; and lead the consumer pricing market research needed to inform launch and lifecycle pricing decisions. 

The Senior Director, Consumer Pricing & Non-Reimbursed Channels, Obesity and Related Conditions is responsible for the end-to-end U.S. consumer/cash pricing and non-reimbursed channel agenda supporting the MariTide obesity launch. They will lead consumer pricing strategy, consumer pricing market research and insights, cash-channel insights, offer and discount strategy, channel economics, partner-negotiation frameworks, governance and launch readiness to establish and improve sustainable patient access. This includes shaping the consumer pricing research and translating those insights into actionable pricing and channel recommendations. 

The role will coordinate consumer/cash-channel needs across direct-to-patient, retail, telehealth/provider, pharmacy and distribution partners. The role will collaborate as needed with other leaders driving payer/PBM coverage, copay design, government pricing and employer strategy. While this role will focus primarily on US there may be requirements to shape elements of the Outside US framework.  

Key responsibilities also include: 

• Lead MariTide consumer cash pricing strategy and execution across direct-to-patient, retail cash, telehealth provider, pharmacy and other non-reimbursed routes; recommend price architecture, guardrails and lifecycle actions that optimize access, demand, persistence and net sales. 

• Own consumer and cash-channel insight synthesis, including willingness-to-pay, price elasticity, competitor offers, affordability, fulfillment, persistence, channel economics and emerging behaviors; translate insights into executive recommendations. 

• Establish and lead consumer pricing governance, including a consumer price committee or equivalent forum, decision rights, escalation pathways, review cadence, scenario analyses and documentation for timely, compliant decisions. 

• Own launch and lifecycle consumer price, discount and offer strategy, including start-price recommendations, introductory and retention offers, channel-specific pricing principles and patient-segmentation guardrails; monitor performance and recommend adjustments. 

• Develop the negotiation framework for cash-channel partners, including commercial objectives, pricing and discount guardrails, economics, contractual principles, performance measures and renewal strategy; lead strategic negotiations as appropriate. 

• Define and manage the non-reimbursed channel gross-to-net and financial framework with Finance, Forecasting, Pricing & Contracting and Trade; quantify cash price, discounts, fees, service costs, product flow and channel economics to inform forecasts and decisions. 

• Partner with PAR, direct-to-patient, Trade, Operations and digital teams to translate approved strategies into platform, pharmacy/distribution, product-data, consumer-communications, measurement and issue-resolution requirements. Implementation ownership resides with the respective operational teams. 

• Present and translate recommendations, strategic options for the consumer-centered cash-price and channel strategies, and decision-enablement materials for senior leadership and governance forums, enabling efficient, data-driven decisions. 

• Lead the consumer pricing market research and insights for MariTide, establishing the strategic learning priorities required to inform launch and lifecycle consumer pricing, affordability, offer and non-reimbursed channel decisions. 

• Define an integrated consumer pricing research program and advanced pricing research approaches and analytical frameworks to understand consumer response across price points, offers, channels and segments, translating findings into implications for pricing architecture, demand, access, persistence, net sales and long-term price integrity. 

• Define the consumer pricing learning agenda before and after launch, research priorities and decision triggers to enable rapid learning and evidence-based evolution of pricing, discount and offer strategies.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Doctorate degree & 5 years of commercial experience OR 

• Master’s degree & 8 years of commercial experience OR 

• Bachelor’s degree & 10  years of commercial experience  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience solving complex business problems in consumer-oriented, high-growth healthcare markets. 

• Advanced knowledge of U.S. pharmaceutical consumer and HCP marketing and insight development  

• Translatable experience in retail and cash-based pricing models, cash-pay or direct-to-patient models, channel economics and pricing/discount governance 

• Experience in obesity, consumer health, retail healthcare or a similarly complex category preferred. 

• Experience developing consumer pricing architecture, launch offers and price-promotion strategies that balance patient affordability, demand, channel economics, net sales and long-term price integrity. 

• Experience leading pricing decisions and negotiations and ability to adapt to novel entities in the cash channel.  

• Strong executive presence with experience supporting senior governance and decision-making forums 

• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across diverse, global stakeholders 

• Strong quantitative capability with ability to communicate financial tradeoffs and performance measurement across price, discounts, fees and fulfillment. 

• Experience designing decision governance and presenting concise, data-driven recommendations and tradeoffs for executive decision making; strong executive communication skill. 

• Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and management of multiple, concurrent workstreams in a matrixed launch environment. 

• Strong orientation to teamwork; able to turn consumer and channel insights into executable strategies with Brand, PAR, direct-to-patient, Trade, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Analytics. 

• Remote work available with 25–30% travel depending on obesity brand, U.S. Value & Access and organizational needs.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
