Senior Corporate Counsel, Regulatory

About The Role:

Your north star: Deliver impactful healthcare regulatory guidance to enable Pomelo's business growth and operations in collaboration with the legal and compliance team and business leaders across the organization.

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated healthcare attorney to join our growing, collaborative team. Reporting to our Associate General Counsel, Healthcare & Technology, this role is responsible for healthcare regulatory matters, and offers the opportunity to work closely with various teams across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, strong legal acumen, and a pragmatic, business-forward approach to navigating the regulatory environment.

Who you are:

• You have a JD from an ABA accredited law school and are licensed to practice in at least one state.
• You have a minimum of 7 years of legal experience. In-house experience at a healthcare company is required, and startup or high-growth experience is strongly preferred.
• You bring deep experience across the federal and state regulations that govern how virtual care is delivered and paid for: professional licensure, scope of practice and supervision requirements, telehealth rules, CPOM and MSO/PC structures, AKS, FCA and other fraud and abuse laws, healthcare marketing and patient communications rules, and Medicaid reimbursement.
• You have experience with ERISA, group health plan design, and the plan-side requirements that come with health plan and employer partnerships.
• You have supported a virtual-first or telehealth provider, including launching clinical services in new states, and have partnered closely with clinical leadership on clinical model design.
• You are pragmatic and business-forward. You right-size the risk, land on a clear recommendation, and explain the “why” in plain language a non-lawyer can act on.
• You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively managing cross-functional projects and business priorities. The ability to establish a rapport and working relationship with business leaders is paramount.
• You have meticulous attention to detail and are comfortable working with ambiguity.
• You have the ability to manage shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

The expected base salary range offered for this role is $225,000-$245,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus and equity, giving you an ownership stake in Pomelo’s mission. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications.
