The Senior Analyst, Direct Mail Acquisition position is responsible for driving new-to-file and participant growth through the strategy, execution, and optimization of direct mail acquisition programs. This role owns the end-to-end direct mail acquisition lifecycle—including audience strategy, segmentation, vendor execution, and performance measurement—to maximize response, efficiency, and return on investment.

This position partners closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to scale mailing programs, improve targeting precision, and continuously test and optimize acquisition performance.

Road Scholar offers a remote work environment. The compensation range for this exempt level salaried position is $68,000 - $80,000 based on experience. 

In this role, you will...

  • Own the end-to-end direct mail acquisition strategy, including circulation planning, audience development, send cadence, and volume forecasting
  • Lead list segmentation strategy, leveraging behavioral, demographic, and modeled data to grow new-to-file and participants
  • Manage relationships with print, production, list, and merge vendors to ensure efficient execution of direct mail acquisition campaigns
  • Manage the prospecting database to ensure data quality and alignment with evolving acquisition strategies
  • Lead ongoing enhancements to direct mail campaign attribution methodologies to improve performance measurement and investment decisions
  • Build and maintain reporting to measure campaign performance, effectiveness, and target audience reach and conversion trends; track and analyze key acquisition KPIs including
  • Develop reporting and insights to optimize mailing cadence and contact frequency
  • Partner with creative teams and vendors to develop messaging, offers, formats, and personalization strategies
  • Ensure creative execution supports audience targeting and enables accurate tracking and performance measurement
  • Design and execute structured A/B and multivariate testing plans to improve response rates and cost per acquisition; continuously optimize acquisition performance through iterative testing
  • Own acquisition budget and spend optimization across direct mail programs
  • Partner with forecasting team to ensure direct mail acquisition forecasts (new-to-file and enrollments) are accurate, assumption-driven, and aligned with current campaign performance
  • Monitor and report performance against budget, ensuring efficient use of marketing investment
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform investment and targeting decisions

We're seeking...

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (e.g. marketing, business, economics, mathematics)
  • 4+ years of direct response marketing experience, with a strong emphasis on direct mail acquisition or catalog marketing
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end campaign execution, including targeting, production, and performance optimization
  • Proven track record of successfully working in a remote environment with strong self-management and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of direct mail economics, including CPA, response modeling, and ROI measurement
  • Experience with audience segmentation, list strategy, and data-driven targeting
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with marketing intelligence or reporting tools (e.g. Strategy [formerly MicroStrategy], Tableau, or similar)
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and optimizing spend for performance and efficiency
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator, comfortable working with creative, finance, and external vendors
  • Ability to clearly communicate performance insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Self-starter with ownership mindset and ability to manage multiple concurrent campaigns
  • Detail-oriented with strong execution discipline in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong test-and-learn orientation with a focus on continuous optimization and performance improvement
