Position Summary

The SAP Basis Administrator keeps our SAP landscape reliable and current across HANA and ECC systems, supporting Engineering's work building out TR Standard integration to ONESOURCE Determination, E-Invoicing, GTM, and related platforms. This role owns day-to-day system operations and leads upgrades and migrations, partnering with architecture and regional teams so compliance requirements are met and the landscape stays aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

System Operations & Reliability

•      Maintain and monitor HANA DB and ECC backups, including scheduled backups to the designated NFS mount for HANA and the per-server backup folders for ECC systems.

•      Perform SAP-standard backup and restore procedures using HANA DB Studio, and lead restore sessions when systems need recovery.

•      Plan and execute SAP application and database restarts, including recurring maintenance windows and any restart needed outside the standard schedule.

•      Be available on standby on designated weekends each month to support system patching and restart systems afterward, including cloud-hosted servers. 

•      Investigate and resolve day-to-day SAP issues as they arise, with particular attention to authorization-related problems.

•      Monitor system and team communications for items that need action, and escalate promptly when something needs a closer look.

•      Check SAP vulnerabilities and remediation proposed in SAP KBAs/Notes.

•      Exposure to SAP Fiori/Gateway administration

•      Basic Linux/Unix and/or Windows administration

•      Maintain system landscape documentation, SIDs, transport routes, RFCs for the 30+ systems

Change, Patch & Notes Management

•      Implement SAP Notes individually and in bulk through SNOTE, following SAP-standard change procedures.

•      Apply mandatory SAP patches as they are released, including kernel upgrades, support package updates, and related note implementations, using the process appropriate to each patch type.

•      Apply monthly OS patching across the landscape and coordinate any additional patching, such as Windows server upgrades, with the relevant teams.

•      Manage SSL certificates for SAP servers and applications through the Venafi certificate platform, keeping renewal timelines and paths documented.

Platform Upgrades & Migrations

•      Lead SAP system version upgrades, such as moving an S/4HANA environment to a newer release, from planning through completion.

•      Install new SAP releases on premise as they become available, including validation of the target environment ahead of go-live.

•      Support migration of on-premise servers to cloud platforms such as AWS or AMS or GCP, coordinating timelines with the different teams driving the move.

•      Identify systems that are no longer in active use and manage their shutdown or decommissioning as part of ongoing cost optimization.

Integration, Compliance & Regional Support

•      Configure and maintain SLT replication (CIM/CIF) following SAP-standard guidance for supported integration scenarios.

•      Apply and resolve country-specific SAP Notes tied to statutory and compliance reforms, such as Brazil NFE-related changes, across affected systems.

•      Apply/Install SAP best practices in the system.

•      Administer SAP BTP and SAP Public Cloud user access, communication arrangements, and related platform administration tasks.

•      Provide Basis support to the functional and regional teams using the landscape, including consulting, professional services, sales, and country teams such as Brazil, and keep landscape documentation current with system owners and locations.

SAP BTP Administration

•      Administer SAP BTP global and sub-accounts, including tenant provisioning, service configuration, and entitlement management.

•      Manage BTP user access and authorizations across global and sub-accounts.

•      Monitor BTP performance, availability, and cloud security across subscribed services.

•      Configure and maintain the Cloud Connector for connectivity between on-premise systems and SAP BTP.

•      Set up and maintain communication arrangements in S/4HANA Public Cloud for API access.

•      Deploy, configure, and monitor SAP Integration Suite iFlows.

•      Evaluate and implement appropriate BTP cloud services to support modern cloud-based solutions.

•      Troubleshoot and resolve BTP integration issues and provide technical support to business teams.

User Administration

·        S-user ID administration — managing SAP Support Portal (SAP ONE Support Launchpad) access, since S-user IDs control who can open OSS tickets, download notes and patches, and access SAP's support systems.

·        SAP system user maintenance — day-to-day user account work inside the SAP systems themselves (SU01), including creating accounts, unlocking or resetting passwords, and assigning authorizations or roles.

Emerging Practices

•      Stay informed on how AI capabilities can extend an on-premise SAP landscape, and contribute Basis-side perspective when the team evaluates new tools in this space.

Required Qualifications

•      Hands-on experience administering SAP HANA and SAP ECC environments, including backup, restore, and recovery procedures.

•      Working knowledge of SAP Note implementation through SNOTE and SAP patch management, including kernel and support package updates.

•      Experience with SAP system upgrades, new installations, or cloud migration projects.

•      Familiarity with SSL certificate management tools and processes in an enterprise SAP environment.

•      Comfort working directly with cross-functional teams — consulting, sales, professional services, and regional business units — to support their SAP needs.

Preferred Qualifications

•      Experience with SLT replication configuration (CIM/CIF).

•      Exposure to SAP BTP administration and SAP Public Cloud user and access management.

•      Experience supporting country-specific compliance requirements, such as Brazil NFE, within SAP.
