AI Summary

The Sales Engineer will manage the centralized equipment database and serve as the primary technical resource for identifying replacement solutions for renewable energy infrastructure. They will collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Operations teams to support complex repowering projects and ensure accurate technical documentation.

Who We Are

Bluewater provides equipment, services, and lifecycle solutions surrounding the management of large-format batteries, solar panels, inverters, transformers, and other critical energy infrastructure. We support customers in sourcing critical equipment and replacement components, managing surplus assets, extending equipment lifecycles, and recovering value through resale, reuse, and recycling. Our work spans across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, power generation, and electric vehicle manufacturing, reducing supply-chain friction and expanding secondary market opportunities for energy equipment.

The Opportunity

Bluewater is looking to bring on a Sales Engineer to enable the Renewable Site Solutions team to solve renewable energy equipment replacement challenges. This includes identifying compatible alternatives when OEM parts are obsolete or discontinued, recommending equivalent products across manufacturers, and supporting complex repowering projects involving solar panels, battery energy storage systems (BESS), inverters, transformers, breakers, switchgears, and other electrical components.

This is a highly collaborative role that not only helps drive sales conversion but also strengthens long-term relationships with site owners and operators who value technical problem-solving and product availability. In this role, you’ll partner with Sales and Operations teams to understand customer requirements, review equipment and project specifications, and recommend technical solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing site infrastructure and electrical systems.

  • Support Procurement by validating equipment specifications, evaluating technical compatibility, and assisting with sourcing decisions

  • Coordinate with OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and site owners to obtain technical documentation and resolve product-related questions

  • Manage and prioritize internal technical requests while tracking progress to ensure timely responses across Sales, Procurement, and Operations

  • Develop equipment compatibility matrices, cross-reference guides, and replacement recommendations for obsolete, discontinued, and legacy equipment

  • Provide technical support for customer proposals, complex repowering projects, and strategic sales opportunities

  • Train and support Sales and Procurement teams on equipment capabilities, technical differentiators, and product applications

  • Monitor market trends, product availability, equipment obsolescence, and emerging technologies to proactively identify replacement solutions

Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years of experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects through an EPC, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), equipment distributor, manufacturer, or similar technical organization

  • Strong familiarity with utility-scale renewable energy equipment, including solar panels, inverters, BESS, transformers, and high-voltage electrical equipment

  • Experience identifying replacement equipment, evaluating product compatibility, or supporting equipment sourcing is highly preferred

  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
