Your mission

 

As a Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to assure workplace safety and environmental compliance, track/trend accidents and safety training. You will ensure employees have a safe work environment in which to perform their duties. This is a high-impact position where you aren't just "checking boxes" - you are building a culture. You will have the authority to stop unsafe operations and the influence to shape how three major European markets approach quality, health, safety, and sustainability. You will report to the Business Line Manager Services and work closely with Germany, Austria and France Hiab team and external customers and vendors.

Location: Flexible within Germany, Austria, or France. 
Travel: Approx. 30–40% across regional sites

Working mode: Remote

Languages required: Fluent German and French

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Drive and promote a proactive safety-first culture across all Hiab Services workshops and customer sites in Germany, Austria, and France
  • Exercise authority to halt unsafe practices or operations and implement immediate corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to eliminate workplace hazards
  • Maintain and continuously improve Quality Management Systems (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and local regulatory frameworks
  • Plan, organize, and execute regular internal audits and external certifications (e.g. ISO, OEM audits,…)across all regional facilities
  • Standardize service quality protocols and ensure consistent implementation in all locations
  • Implement regional environmental initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, optimize waste management, and ensure compliance with ISO 14001 guidelines
  • Stakeholder Management & Training
  • Serve as the key point of contact for local authorities, trade associations (e.g., Berufsgenossenschaften), external auditors, and customers
  • Design and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and onboarding modules tailored to local legislation and company standards.

 

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Quality Management, Occupational Safety, or a related qualification.

  • 5+ years of experience in a QHSE role, ideally within an industrial, heavy machinery, logistics, or multi-site service network.

  • Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor 

  • Recognized local safety qualifications (e.g., Sicherheitsfachkraft / SiFa in Germany, or local equivalent in Austria/France). NEBOSH qualification is highly advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Fluency German, French and English (spoken & written) is mandatory

  • Willingness to travel approx. 30–40% between service sites across Germany, Austria, and France. (60% Germany and Austria and 40% France)

  • Lean mindset and experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S) to safety and quality workflows
