About Legion Health

Legion is a pioneering, tech-enabled psychiatry network focused on delivering world-class outpatient care. Our providers are passionate about expanding access to high-quality mental health care for people using insurance.

Our model combines the stability and support of a modern clinical organization with the flexibility of remote practice. We prioritize clinical quality, patient experience, evidence-based care, and a collaborative culture in which excellent clinicians can do their best work.

About the role

Legion Health is seeking clinically excellent, patient-centered psychiatrists to collaborate with and supervise psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners through secure telehealth workflows. This is a nationwide, remote, part-time contractor opportunity. Assignments are matched to Legion's operating needs, the physician's licensed jurisdictions, and applicable state law.

You will provide clinical supervision, review charts, guide complex clinical decisions, and authorize prescriptions when permitted and appropriate under state and federal law and Legion's clinical protocols. We are looking for psychiatrists who combine sound independent judgment with a practical, responsive approach to supporting excellent PMHNPs.

Benefits

Flexibility: Set a predictable part-time schedule that works with your other commitments.

Work from home: Collaborate with PMHNPs through secure telehealth and clinical systems.

Clinical autonomy: Exercise independent medical judgment within clear, evidence-based protocols.

PMHNP acquisition: Legion recruits and vets the PMHNPs you support.

Monthly pay: Compensation is paid monthly.

Legal protection: Legion provides malpractice insurance coverage for work performed on Legion's behalf.

Licensure support: Legion may reimburse approved fees for obtaining additional state licenses required by Legion.

Administrative support: Focus on clinical supervision and mentorship rather than scheduling, billing, prior authorizations, or pharmacy coordination.

Clinical resources: Access best-in-class EHR, communication, diagnostic, and clinical-reference tools.

Community of clinical excellence: Work alongside highly selective PMHNPs and psychiatrists committed to responsible, compassionate care.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with experienced PMHNPs treating low- and medium-acuity psychiatry patients using evidence-based approaches.

Conduct chart reviews and provide timely guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication management, and clinical escalations.

Review and authorize prescriptions, including controlled substances when legally permitted and clinically appropriate.

Be available during agreed working hours and at the end of PMHNP shifts when required by applicable state rules.

Mentor clinicians and reinforce Legion's clinical standards, documentation expectations, and responsible-prescribing protocols.

Help Legion expand access to high-quality psychiatric care across the United States.

Qualifications

Active, unrestricted physician license (MD or DO) in at least one U.S. licensing jurisdiction.

Active DEA individual practitioner registration or another valid prescribing authority that is applicable to the work.

Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.

Comfort supervising nurse practitioners remotely, reviewing charts, and answering clinical questions.

Comfort exercising independent judgment regarding prescriptions, including controlled substances, in compliance with state and federal law.

Willingness to obtain additional state licenses when mutually agreed and supported by Legion.

Commitment to a minimum one-year tenure with the team.

Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, medication-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Comfort using technology, telehealth tools, and electronic health record systems.

Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate, evidence-based care.

Additional information

Location: Remote within the United States, with occasional optional or role-related in-person events.

Job type: Part-time, contract.

Compensation: $1,000 per month for each full-time nurse practitioner (20+ hours/week) and $500 per month for each part-time nurse practitioner (<20 hours/week) supervised. Total monthly compensation depends on the number and mix of nurse practitioners supervised, applicable state law, and Legion's operational needs.
