The Product Owner has the responsibility of owning and managing two critical products: a core legacy platform and a modern SaaS offering representing Kodiak’s future growth. Reporting to the Director of Product, this role balances product stability, modernization, and innovation while translating business and customer needs into actionable product requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include the following.  Other duties may also be assigned.

 

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for both legacy and SaaS products
  • Translate product strategy and stakeholder needs into epics, features, and user stories
  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements
  • Lead backlog refinement and participate in sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, QA, and Product Management to deliver high-quality releases
  • Act as the day-to-day decision maker for scope, trade-offs, and requirement clarification
  • Balance maintenance and modernization of legacy systems with SaaS innovation and adoption
  • Collaborate with Sales, Client Services, Operations, and Leadership to align priorities
  • Support product releases, go-to-market activities, and customer communications
  • Use data, customer feedback, and market insights to drive backlog prioritization

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar product delivery role
  • Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum development environments
  • Experience supporting both legacy applications and SaaS/cloud-based products
  • Strong backlog management and user story writing skills
  • Experience with product modernization or platform transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to enterprise or B2B SaaS products
  • Experience in healthcare or healthcare finance software environments preferred
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI) preferred
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO, SAFe POPM) preferred
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer, now or in the future, as of the start date.  This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship
