AI Summary

Lead the strategy and direction for a critical product portfolio across multiple teams and customer segments. Drive end-to-end discovery for high-stakes initiatives and mentor other product managers to elevate organizational practices.

Your job

As a Principal Product Manager, you are the foremost product expert for a portfolio or strategically critical initiative spanning multiple teams, surfaces, and customer segments. Without direct management authority, you are a de facto product leader — setting and continuously refining strategy, driving key decisions, and remaining deeply involved in the most complex product challenges. You shape the direction and roadmaps of teams across the organization through expertise, credibility, and cross-functional partnership. Your work is anchored in data, from defining portfolio-level success metrics to deep investigation of customer needs and market dynamics. You own end-to-end discovery for the highest-stakes, zero-to-one initiatives, using experimentation and staged investment to de-risk complex bets. You mentor and elevate other product managers, and you serve as a key voice in leadership forums on priorities, trade-offs, and long-term product direction.

Who you are

  • Set and continuously refine strategy for a product portfolio or critical initiative spanning multiple teams, surfaces, and customer segments — driving portfolio-level trade-off decisions and sequencing high-stakes bets
  • Remain deeply involved in the most complex product decisions, owning end-to-end discovery for zero-to-one initiatives and de-risking high-stakes work through experimentation and staged investment
  • Define success metrics for the portfolio, establish mechanisms to track initiative progress and product health, and use data and experimentation to make informed decisions and drive iteration
  • Influence the roadmaps and priorities of teams you don't directly manage, building alignment across product managers, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership through expertise and collaboration
  • Design how multiple products, platforms, and integrations work together over time — driving the creation of shared capabilities that unlock leverage and value across teams
  • Ensure portfolio strategies create meaningful value on multiple sides of the marketplace (job seekers and employers), with aligned incentives that improve network effects over time
  • Mentor product managers across levels, elevating discovery, delivery, and measurement practices across your domain and the broader product organization

Who we are

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience; or a PhD with 8 years experience
  • Demonstrated mastery across multiple product areas, platforms, or customer segments — with the ability to recognize patterns, risks, and opportunities not visible at a team or feature level
  • Track record of setting and executing product strategy for complex portfolios or initiatives without direct management authority, driving outcomes through expertise, credibility, and collaboration
  • Excellent analytical foundation with demonstrated experience defining success metrics, building measurement frameworks, and using data and experimentation to evaluate portfolio health and guide investment decisions
  • Proven ability to own end-to-end discovery for zero-to-one product initiatives, including identifying emerging market trends and aligning discovery efforts to long-term strategic direction
  • Experience designing how multiple products and platforms work together, with the ability to identify and build shared capabilities that create leverage across teams
  • Ability to align cross-functional partners and senior leadership on strategy, priorities, and trade-offs — and to present complex product strategy and results clearly to executive audiences
  • Experience mentoring and elevating product managers at multiple levels, improving discovery, delivery, and measurement practices across a team or function
