Principal Business Planning, Strat & Supp Consult (Remote)

First Citizens Bank is looking for a Cyber Security Business Planning, Strategy & Support Consultant to lead strategic business planning, workforce planning, capacity management, and operational enablement activities across the Enterprise Cybersecurity Office. This highly visible individual contributor role supports the Cyber Strategy and Execution team by ensuring cybersecurity resources, investments, financial plans, and operational capabilities are aligned to strategic objectives and execution priorities.

The successful candidate will serve as a senior advisor to cybersecurity leadership, responsible for enabling effective planning, demand management, resource optimization, financial governance, and operational maturity. This role will partner closely with Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Enterprise Strategy, and Risk Management teams to drive efficient execution of the cybersecurity strategy.

This position is remote eligible in NC, FL, SC. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Planning

• Lead annual and multi-year planning activities that support execution of the enterprise cybersecurity strategy.
• Facilitate development of strategic goals, operating plans, and execution priorities.
• Assess emerging business needs, risks, and organizational capabilities to support planning decisions.
• Support executive leadership in strategic prioritization and resource allocation discussions.
• Develop planning frameworks, methodologies, and performance measures that support organizational objectives.

Capacity, Workforce & Demand Management

• Lead cybersecurity capacity and demand management processes across the organization.
• Evaluate resource requirements, staffing needs, and capability gaps.
• Partner with leadership and Human Resources to support workforce planning and hiring strategies.
• Monitor organizational capacity and provide recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
• Facilitate intake, prioritization, and evaluation of new cybersecurity initiatives and requests.

Financial Planning & Cost Management

• Support cybersecurity financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and investment management activities.
• Analyze spending trends and strategic investments to identify optimization opportunities.
• Partner with Finance and procurement stakeholders to support budget planning and execution.
• Monitor financial performance and provide executive-level insights and recommendations.
• Support initiatives that improve cost transparency, operational efficiency, and financial accountability.

Business Operations & Strategic Enablement

• Develop and implement processes that improve operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
• Drive business process improvements that support scaling and execution of cybersecurity operations.
• Establish metrics and reporting that enable performance monitoring and informed decision-making.
• Coordinate with enterprise functions to ensure alignment of cybersecurity business operations.
• Support organizational readiness for strategic initiatives and transformational change.

Executive Reporting & Analytics

• Develop executive dashboards, performance reporting, and operational metrics.
• Analyze workforce, financial, operational, and strategic performance data.
• Deliver insights and recommendations that support executive decision-making.
• Establish and maintain a catalog of strategic, operational, and business performance metrics.
• Prepare materials for executive leadership reviews and governance forums.

Strategic Communications & Relationship Management

• Lead communication efforts that promote understanding of cybersecurity priorities, initiatives, and business processes.
• Build strong partnerships across Cybersecurity, Technology, Finance, Risk, and Human Resources.
• Serve as a liaison between ECSO and centralized enterprise functions.
• Develop communication strategies supporting planning, workforce, and operational initiatives.
• Foster collaboration and alignment across stakeholders.

Automation & Operational Maturity

• Drive automation opportunities that improve planning, reporting, and operational processes.
• Leverage tools such as Jira, Confluence, Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, PowerAutomate and other platforms to improve efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to standardize and simplify business operations.
• Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Enhance organizational maturity through scalable processes and technology-enabled solutions.

Qualifications:
Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 10 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 14 years' experience in Business Strategy, Project Planning, and Financial Services industry

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading large-scale portfolios, programs, or enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive organizational outcomes.
• Experience establishing governance models, portfolio reporting, and strategic planning processes.
• Strong understanding of risk management, technology, and cybersecurity operating environments.
• Certifications: PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe, Agile, or related
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, ServiceNow, Power BI, Tableau, Clarity, or related portfolio management tools.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics, including complex formula development, Power Query, PivotTables, data modeling and analytical techniques.
