What You’ll Do

You will manage the Prep Hoops Business Development team, playing an essential role in Prep Hoops' day-to-day success. You'll conduct weekly 1:1s with all Prep Hoops reps, oversee Prep Hoops' registration revenue, and oversee hiring for the brand. Bringing management and team lead experience, you'll recruit, develop, and retain the territory managers assigned to Prep Hoops, driving sustainable tournament revenue, program acquisition and retention, and contributing to showcase revenue growth.

As the go-to expert on Prep Hoops' audience, pain points, and competitive landscape, you'll drive new tournaments, markets, concepts, and enhancements, and oversee our Diamond and highest value programs nationally. You'll serve as a champion for Prep Hoops across every department, working closely with the Sr. Business Development Manager to keep the brand front and center.

Through our nine brands, we publish over 4,000 articles each month and actively scout talented athletes across the U.S.  We aim to discover and promote promising prospects who aspire to play at the collegiate level. 

In addition to our content, Prep Network is the top event operator in the U.S., hosting 200+ tournaments annually.  We offer a combination of top-tier competitions and extensive media exposure for attending teams.  Our 250+ showcases each year provide a platform for over 10,000+ prospects to compete in front of colleges, scouts, and media outlets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Proven experience managing teams and leading people, with a track record of setting direction and driving performance.
  • Talent Development: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of territory managers supporting Prep Hoops.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive sustainable growth in tournament revenue, program acquisition and retention, while contributing to overall showcase revenue expansion.
  • Market Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on Prep Hoops' audience, pain points, and competitive landscape, leading the development of new tournaments, markets, and concepts, and overseeing the organization's highest-value programs nationally.
  • Strategic Partnership: Champion Prep Hoops' priorities across all departments, partnering closely with the Sr. Business Development Manager to advance shared goals.

Must-Haves in a Candidate

  • Management Experience. Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Sales Experience. 6+ years of sales experience.
  • Industry Experience. Demonstrated experience within the basketball industry.
  • Self-Starter. Takes initiative without close direction.
  • Organized. Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Passionate. Deeply passionate about the work and the mission.
  • Competitive. Background in sales, plays to win.
  • Adept. Proficiency in Excel, as well as experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM. 

Nice-to-Haves in a Candidate

  • Budgeting or P&L experience
  • Negotiation & Problem Solving
  • Management experience at a competing youth sports media or events company
  • Works well in ambiguity.
  • Hasn't jumped jobs a lot in the past 5 years.
  • Currently in a sales management role.
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Experience with EOS/Traction is a plus
  • Experience with Slack and Asana systems is also a plus

  • Competitive Compensation. Targeted salary is $80,000 to $95,000, along with a commission structure based on Prep Hoops’ total team registration revenue.  The starting salary will depend on the skills and applicable experience you bring to this role.
