Polygon List Writer

This is a paid freelance, remote position

Polygon is a leading digital publication covering gaming, entertainment, and culture, delivering insightful and engaging content on video games, movies, television, and the broader world of entertainment.

As an established voice in gaming and entertainment, Polygon is looking for experienced and passionate freelance List Writers who can create original, engaging, and high-quality content in a timely manner.

We are currently seeking writers with expertise in Entertainment (Movies & TV) and/or Gaming.

Your Responsibilities

• Work under tight deadlines and submit tasks on time.
• Have a strong working knowledge of either Entertainment (Movies & TV) or Gaming, including current releases, established franchises, classics, cult favorites, and emerging trends.
• Pitch and produce compelling list-based content that appeals to Polygon's gaming and entertainment audiences.
• Able to maintain a contracted freelance schedule.
• Report to various Editors and implement feedback efficiently.
• Adhere to Polygon's editorial standards and style guide.

Experience and Skills

• Educational background in journalism, communications, English, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience producing entertainment, gaming, or related digital content.
• In-depth familiarity with and a genuine passion for Entertainment and/or Gaming.
• For Entertainment writers: broad knowledge of movies and television, including genres, franchises, streaming platforms, industry trends, and entertainment history.
• For Gaming writers: broad knowledge of video games, including major franchises, genres, platforms, developers, gaming history, and current industry trends.
• Ability to research, develop, and write engaging list-based articles for a digital audience.
• Experience with SEO best practices.
• Experience with a custom CMS is preferred.
