Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic PMO Manager to join our growing Program Management Office. This role is responsible for supervising a team of Project and Program Managers, ensuring the consistent application of project management best practices, and driving alignment with organizational goals. The PMO Manager will collaborate closely with fellow PMO Managers and report directly to the Vice President of PMO. PMO Managers will be responsible for performing duties under minimal supervision and will be required to provide reports to the VP of the Program Management Office and other departments or stakeholders.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project and Program Managers, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of programs and projects across the organization, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with other PMO Managers to promote consistency, share best practices, and continuously improve PMO processes and tools.
  • Monitor project portfolio health, identifying risks, and recommending mitigation strategies to senior leadership.
  • Drive adherence to project management frameworks (e.g., PMI/PMP standards) and enforce compliance with PMO methodologies.
  • Provide strategic guidance and reporting to the VP of PMO and executive stakeholders.
  • Support resource planning, prioritization, and allocation across multiple concurrent projects and programs.
  • Champion the use of standardized tools and dashboards for project tracking and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of PMO policies, templates, and governance frameworks.
  • Other duties as assigned, including project manager duties

Additional Supervisory responsibilities (when designated as Team Lead):

  • Track and report all milestone payments within their designated functional area on a bi-weekly basis
  • Communicates appropriate timeline expectations and forecasts future milestone payments with senior leadership
  • Provides performance management, mentorship, and tracks KPIs for Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  • Regularly communicates team escalations and conducts 1x1 with reporting team members.

Job Specifications

Required

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass an extensive background check.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification in good standing.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in program/project management, with demonstrated success managing complex programs.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing Project Managers or leading a PMO team.
  • Strong understanding of project and portfolio management tools and techniques.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration across cross-functional teams and PMO leadership.
  • Ability to assess priorities and operate in a flexible manner in order to meet the dynamic needs of the team
  • Strong analytic and communication (oral and written) skills necessary to interact with all levels of management
  • Attention to and precision with detail, comfort with financial data
  • Ability to work independently and process quickly while prioritizing work activities based on management's needs
  • Demonstrated experience in using computer-based tools including Visio, Project Professional, SharePoint, Office 2013 Suite, Web Conferencing software
  • Demonstrated experience running large, complex programs
  • Fluent knowledge of and experience applying PM methodologies to assigned projects.

Preferred/Desired

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a matrixed or multi-PMO environment.
  • Experience building Program Management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management methodologies.

Work Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. May occasionally need to position self to maintain computers, including under the desks and in the server closet. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these solutions.
