The types of projects we work on and clients we work with is changing as we grow. We are starting to work more and more with large, client-side organisations and with that comes a need for writing bids and detailed RFP’s for us to continue along this path. So that’s why we’re looking for a champion bid writer to join our growing team.

The Role 

Purpose of the role 

You will source, write and manage the bids, RFP’s and any other technical sales related content that will be pivotal in helping us achieve our strategic goals. 


Our sales team work closely with a wide range of our team to win us new clients to work with. We work across the supply chain and in both the private and public sectors so there are several different angles and approaches we take to work winning but ultimately it often comes down to deeply understanding client requirements and telling great stories to reflect this understanding. Your initial leader will be our Growth Director.

  1. Writing to win: Telling incredible stories and presenting them in a powerful way that wins us work and positions us ahead of the pack 

  2. Strategic thinking: Using your best judgment to critically and objectively assess if a bid or RFP opportunity is something we can and should pursue 

  3. Sourcing: Finding bid and RFP opportunities for us to consider 

  4. Build a winning knowledge asset: Consolidating previous bid responses, best practice and lessons learned into a clear and coherent repository to aid future work 

  5. Develop everyone and learn: Maximise the development of everyone you work with, teaching and guiding wherever possible to upskill in your area of expertise but also to learn from those you work with too 

Your Capabilities:

You will be a proven sales leader with a specialism in bid writing and management.

Must-Have (The fundamentals) 

  • Mastery: Outstanding bid writing and bid management skills with a keen eye for detail. To prove this, please put the word “steadfast” in your cover letter. 

  • Communication: A confident and clear communicator, able to work with subject matter experts to extract information related to complex subjects and translate these into written format for bids and RFP’s. 

  • Leadership: You lead yourself proactively and lead others by asking the right questions and challenging them. 

  • Impact: A proven track record of writing and leading winning high value bids and RFP’s. 

Nice to Have (If you don’t have it now you will be trained intensively after joining) 

  • Mastery: Implements and continuously improves seamless end to end bid management processes to great effect. Widely regarded as one of the best bid writing professionals in construction globally with a track record to back it up. 

  • Communication: A master in the art of influencing and persuasion who can lead people at all levels towards a desired outcome. 

  • Leadership: Manages and coaches a high performing bid team while also a recognised thought leader in engineering and construction. 

  • Impact: Has successfully sourced, written and won bids that have delivered a huge step change towards strategic business objectives.

Can you tell me more about what the role is like? 

Because we are fast growing all of our roles are evolving all the time so what you start with might not be what you are doing in 6 months. Initially this role will be focused on sourcing, writing and managing bids and RFP’s.

Where will I be working? 

This role is likely to be mostly remote and home-based. However, if you would like to work in a co-work space to get out of the house we can arrange that. If you are in one of our locations with offices you can come as often as you like.
