AI Summary

You will serve as the primary People & Culture partner for the USA, Brazil, and UK teams, driving performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness. You will also own the employee lifecycle and coach leadership through complex employee relations and performance matters.

You've found us at a good time. Hapana is opening new markets, shipping new products and welcoming new brands onto the platform  we're looking for the people who'll grow with us. This could be one of those right-place, right-time moments. Here's everything you need to know.

WHO WE ARE

Hapana powers the world's best fitness brands. Walk into a Fitstop, KX, Gold's Gym or J.I.M and there's a good chance our platform is running the whole show: memberships, bookings, marketing, payments, growth.

The fitness industry is booming, and we're the technology underneath it. We're 110 people across Australia, USA, UK, Brazil, Singapore and India and the work we ship reaches studios and members all over the world. Build something here and you'll see it land in the product, in our clients' businesses and in the team around you.

WHERE YOU COME IN

You'll be the People & Culture partner for our USA, Brazil & UK team and the right hand to our Director of People & Culture when it comes to supporting and growing our USA, Brazil and UK business.

You'll own the People experience on the ground, partnering closely with leaders to build high-performing teams, navigate the moments that matter, and make sure our People practices keep pace with the business as we grow.

This isn't a role where you'll sit on the sidelines and hand managers a policy. You'll coach leaders through performance conversations, handle complex employee matters, improve the way we work, spot risks before they become problems, and help build the People foundations we need for our next stage of growth.

It's a role for someone who likes having real ownership, can move comfortably between strategy and execution, and knows that great People & Culture is equal parts commercial judgement, strong relationships and getting things done.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING

Be the primary People & Culture partner for our USA, Brazil and UK teams, building trusted relationships with leaders and employees and providing practical, commercially minded People advice.

  • Partner closely with the Director of People & Culture and leadership across the USA, Brazil and UK to drive performance, organisational priorities, employee development, engagement and team effectiveness.
  • Coach and support managers through complex People matters, including performance concerns, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), difficult conversations, employee relations, investigations and organisational change.
  • Own the employee lifecycle across the USA, Brazil and UK, from onboarding and development through to employment changes and offboarding, partnering with our People & Culture Generalist to deliver a consistent and seamless employee experience.
  • Lead employee relations matters across the USA, Brazil and UK with confidence and sound judgement, ensuring strong documentation, consistent processes and appropriate escalation to external employment advisors when specialist guidance is required.
  • Drive performance review cycles and support managers to turn performance conversations into clear expectations, actions and meaningful development plans.
  • Maintain compliant and scalable People practices across the USA, Brazil and UK, staying current with relevant employment requirements and ensuring our policies, processes and documentation evolve as the business grows.
  • Build and continuously improve People processes, playbooks and frameworks that give managers clarity, improve the employee experience and keep unnecessary complexity to a minimum.
  • Use People data, employee feedback and business insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities early and translate them into practical actions.
  • Champion the employee experience through benefits, wellbeing, recognition, engagement and initiatives that bring Hapana’s culture and values to life.
  • Partner with hiring managers and the broader People team on recruitment as required, helping us attract great people and deliver an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Support workforce planning, organisational design and capability planning as our USA, Brazil and UK teams continue to scale.
  • Partner cross-functionally on projects and initiatives where People, workplace and business operations intersect.
  • Own and champion our USA Health, Dental and Vision benefits, ensuring employees understand and get the most from their benefits while supporting effective administration and ongoing improvement of our offering.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 4–6+ years of experience in People & Culture / HR, with strong experience across both People Operations and HR Business Partnering.
  • Strong working knowledge of USA employment law and HR best practice, ideally with experience supporting employees across multiple states.
  • Confidence independently managing employee relations, performance management, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), investigations and other sensitive or complex People matters.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leaders and managers, with the confidence to coach, influence and respectfully challenge when needed.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance the needs of our people with the needs of the business.
  • Experience building, improving and scaling People processes in a growing organisation, ideally within SaaS, technology or another fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to think strategically while remaining comfortable getting hands-on and making things happen.
  • Experience supporting distributed or global teams, particularly across the USA, Brazil and UK, would be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You build trust by being clear, thoughtful and consistent.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on commitments.
  • Experience with TriNet and payroll administration would be highly regarded.
  • Confidence working with HR systems such as BambooHR or similar, alongside People data and modern workplace tools.
  • A relevant qualification in HR, Business or a related field is valued, but we place just as much importance on practical experience and what you can bring to the role.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

We're clear about what great looks like from day one, so you can aim at it from day one. In your first year:

  • Our leaders see you as a trusted People partner and bring you into conversations early, not after a problem has already happened
  • Managers are more confident handling performance, feedback and employee conversations because you've given them the tools and coaching to do it well
  • Our US People operations are organised, compliant and ready to scale as the team grows
  • You've simplified or improved the People processes that were creating unnecessary work for employees or managers
  • Employee relations and performance matters are handled consistently, confidently and with strong judgement
  • You've used People data and employee feedback to identify and deliver meaningful improvements to the US employee experience
  • You've helped strengthen the connection between our US team and the wider global Hapana culture
