The Outside Sales Representative will develop and grow relationships with contractors, utilities, and industry partners to expand the adoption of high-efficiency HVAC and water heating solutions. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, providing technical product support, and managing a sales territory across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

General Pacific is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Outside Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our Conservation Division. This role works with contractors, utilities, builders, program partners, and manufacturers to expand adoption of high-efficiency HVAC and heat pump water heater solutions.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, technically curious, comfortable working with contractors, and energized by helping customers navigate products, incentives, and real-world installation needs. This is a consultative, field-based sales role with a strong emphasis on building long-term customer relationships and supporting energy-efficiency programs across the region.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective contractors, builders, utilities, program partners, and other industry stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities for high-efficiency HVAC, heat pump water heaters, and related conservation products and programs.
Maintain a regular call schedule with current accounts while actively prospecting for new customers.
Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products, program opportunities, and solutions.
Provide product education, technical information, and sales support using product samples, literature, and manufacturer resources.
Support customers with quoting, product availability, rebate and incentive program information, and alternative product recommendations.
Provide job-site and field support as needed to help contractors successfully specify, install, and sell products.
Coordinate and participate in contractor trainings, utility meetings, product demonstrations, trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
Work alongside manufacturer/representatives and program partners to strengthen customer relationships and promote key product lines.
Follow up after sales and customer interactions to ensure satisfaction, resolve concerns, and identify future opportunities.
Communicate customer activity, opportunities, and concerns with inside sales and other internal team members.
Maintain accurate account notes, opportunity information, expense records, and other required reporting.
Stay current on product developments, conservation programs, utility incentives, industry trends, and customer needs.
Represent General Pacific professionally and help maintain the company’s service-first reputation with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
Qualifications
Outside sales experience preferred; experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building products, energy efficiency, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of HVAC equipment, heat pump water heaters, contractor distribution, utility programs, or energy-efficiency incentives is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, and manage a sales territory independently.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, utilities, manufacturers, and internal teams.
Comfortable learning technical products and translating product features into practical customer benefits.
Organized, dependable, and able to prioritize multiple customer needs and opportunities.
Strong computer skills and comfort using email, spreadsheets, online research tools, and customer-account tracking systems; willingness to learn and consistently use a CRM.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
Ability to travel regularly by vehicle throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington and occasionally attend overnight events.
