This course will explore the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing vocabulary, approaches and practices for developing writing skills, the writing process and formal elements of writing, oral/aural fluency in English at various proficiency levels, social and academic English and academic language for content areas, and the development of metalinguistic skills appropriate to cognitive, academic, and language proficiency levels. 12 hours of fieldwork experience required.
Compensation: $500 - $1,200 per credit. Adjunct faculty pay rates vary, depending on the academic discipline and the course's credit load and level.
QualificationsESL Adjunct Instructors
Hold a current Massachusetts Educator Professional License in one or more of the following fields: English as a Second Language, PreK-6, or English as a Second Language, 5-12, ELL Director.
A minimum of a Master's Degree in ESL or a closely related field.
A minimum of 5 years of K12 ESL education teaching or administration.
Experience teaching online courses at the higher education level is preferred but not required.
Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
All new employees must complete the FERPA, Anti-Harassment, and any other required online trainings within 15 days of employment.
